Thank you all sincerely for your help to all. I have been on Ativan for past 8 months - began at 1 mg a day and in last 3+ months began taper - see profile. I was conscious of going slow but struggled with pill cuts etc. was able to recently get down to .25mg a day, thought I was doing ok. About a week ago tried to jump off the .25 and felt ok for first week, now I feel a tremendous amount of anxiety last two days.

I know the taper was reasonably aggressive and the jump was maybe too soon or too big (again so hard to taper off these dry cuts and get any 10 % reduction).

I’m nervous to go back to the .25mg and wonder if these feelings will subside and I should tough it out ( it is hard). If I go back to .25 and hold I guess I would need a strategy to taper better from that.

Thanks so much for any advice

Jimbo, I hope a veteran on here will have better advice for you. The truth is, I think, that we really don't know. I think most people would say be safe and go slow, but then some people swear by the jumping off method and advise rapid tapers. If Im not mistaken, isn't .25 of Ativan already very small? I wish there was an easy conversion chart somewhere. Do you know how that dose compares to diazepam? Most people say you can jump at 1 mg of diazepam. For Klonopin that's somewhat equivalent to a .02- .03 dose, but I don't know about ativan. If you didn't have too much trouble with a rapid taper, you may be nowhere as sensitive as many of us are. Best of luck and happy healing!!

Thank you for writing back - I believe Ativan is pretty potent so even at .25 it is a decent dose. It’s just frustrating that I got to .25, felt ok for a week , then had waves last few days . I think I have to get back to .25 and hold and figure out slower taper. I guess I have to learn liquid

Method as pills are too tough to size /cut. Perhaps my jump

From .25 was too much

Best wishes to you on your healing

I think that's probably the wisest course of action if your symptoms have become unbearable. I don't know the half-life of ativan so I can't say when you should expect the biggest hits to come. That might be worth researching. I am on Klonopin and think that, given it's relatively shorter half-life in comparison to diazapem, I typically experience my worst symptoms from day 4 to day 12. If I were you, I would look into 2 hints: (1) what dosage people generally jump from Ativan, and (2) when people tend to get their strong wd sx. Those should give you A good foundation for making this decision. Of course everyone's experiences are different, but that would be the most useful info to have on hand. Keep me posted.

Thanks again for your response - Ativan has a short half life so yes there have been the issues with wd but I didn’t have it as bad as this since jumping off. Ugh. Appreciate your generosity in writing back

Best wishes looks like you are getting closer - are you doing a liquid titration or dry cut

Yes, this sounds like a pretty good idea to me too... Time spent now should usually save suffering time and intensity post jump.. (there are a couple of exceptions in a few instances..)

Sorry, I was actually reading through another members posting history and bumped into your post...

Takingontitration,  -this is the Conv. Chart I use most... I just leave the window open.. lol

-And just to say, the thoughts you have been giving on other threads seem pretty sound to me too..

:)
