Need help explaining to PDoc that I need taper plan

Good morning everyone. I started taking 4mg xanax recreationally for 3 months. I have brought it down to 2.5 mg on the fourth month. Now I'm scared to tell doc . " hey can you help me taper these 2.5 mg down to zero. Don't want antidepressants or barbiturates I just want off everything and start counseling with no meds once I'm clean. I don't have access to anymore even though I have enough til appointment. I'm scared she will blow me off and send me on my way. Someone please help me I'm

You could do worse than give her a copy of the Ashton manual as a sign of your determination to follow a plan that is tried and tested.

She cant then  hide from your honesty

Bringing the Ashton manual is definitely a good idea. I personally went it and showed the doctor my pill cutting schedule that I had written up on my phone. It’s up to you. If you want to switch over to Valium then bringing the Ashton manual is ideal. I stayed on clonazepam so showing him my own schedule showed him I was serious about it. He didn’t like the idea and advised I stay on meds but he allowed it anyway. Just go in an be completely honest. I was in your shoes too. I had no more meds to taper with so I had to find a new doctor. It wasn’t easy but I found one. Don’t stop searching.
