More Depression Tonight

Is it possible for the depression that came from quitting the meds to last multiple years? I'm talking like 2-4 years. I'm 13 months off now and just feel like I haven't had a moment of happiness, besides a few brief windows here and there, in so long. They are never day-long windows or week-long windows. It honestly seems worse the more sleep I get. I've done basically all I can with medical professionals but try more medications. Is it time to start changing life circumstances like job and living situation or something? I just can't take this much longer, and I'm having a hard time believing this could still be from benzo withdrawal.

Let’s say for a moment that it’s not due to withdrawal.

 

Depression can be anything from sadness through to suicidal thoughts.

It can be reactive ie. Bereavement, job loss, marital, ill health, loneliness or just plain boredom and lack of interaction. That won’t respond to ADs

Some say it’s genetic——. Probably not for most of us.

Some say upbringing——— not sure drugs help.

 

Others on here manage with exercise, yoga whatever suits them.

So you perhaps have to think why you are so low most days.

I don't know what to think anymore. Most people are saying don't make any major decisions while in benzo withdrawal. The only thing I can say I've definitively struggled with for many years is my job as a teacher. Between the job and the benzo withdrawal, I think I've hit rock bottom. But I also felt terrible all summer last year because I entered a terrible wave of terror. I'm just trying to figure out whether this depression is strictly benzo withdrawal or not. How can one decipher that?
