Yup

Recurrent nightmares

Was worse on mirtazipine but easing.

Nearly always doing autopsy on my beloved.  Bizarre but thankfully I think healing

Go well and hope the ‘mares disappear

I’ve had anxiety nightmares ever since I started taking Xanax all those years ago. It’s been fifteen days since I jumped and I still have them every night.

Yes.  Moreso scary thoughts, than nightmares.

Very frightening, I know.  Distrusted myself, but kept reminding myself, it was withdrawal from the drug, not me.

Has improved s lot.  It does!  Keep going, you'll make it out of this intact.

Distraction helps.

  • 2 weeks later...

Yes to vivid nightmares but thankfully they have evolved into vivid dream that are not nightmares and I'm no longer scared to go to sleep.

Not sure but I think that benzos prevented me from processing memories and feelings and from getting to the deeper sleep cycles for many years and that this is playing out in my dreams. A backlog of fear, grief, etc that is finally getting processed by my brain. So, I'm seeing it as a good thing.

Yes to scary thoughts too but I think it's similar and getting better. In other words, I'm starting to feel my feelings that were blocked by benzos. It's normal to feel scared plus my nervous system feels under attack, so I focus on self-calming techniques: deep breathing, reading something positive, exercise, aroma therapy, prayer and meditation...anything and everything I can think of.

All the best.

Thanks for sharing Quitit, mine seem to have died down as well. I still have scary thoughts that I run away with but I know they are irrational so that helps me a bit and I keep them out of my mind the best I can. Your assessment regarding blocked feelings makes sense. I try to look at all symptoms as a good thing because it means whatever the benzos were doing my body and brain are now righting itself. It helps me a little bit to know that is what’s happening but still unsettling. Luckily the dreams don’t seem to last long. Wish it was the same for all of these other symptoms. I need to do aromatherapy I’m sure that will help thanks for reminding me. Hope all goes well with the rest of your taper.

I was but this has quieted down for me some now. My nightmares were a feeling like me dying in my sleep and struggling to wake up before I die......really weird and scary feeling!
