When are you jumping off Klonopin?

Was reading a thread in here a few pages back about when to jump from Klonopin. I'm at a dose of about .0325 K right now and holding and wondering if I should keep slowly tapering down to nothing or take the plunge. I have read some of the Ashton protocol but couldn't get my dr to prescribe diazepam so I am not familiar with those conversions. There is some merit, I would think, to not drawing out the process any longer than necessary as we can experience awful sxs even just with small changes. But I also don't want to have to reinstate and cause worsening symptoms. Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated!!

I believe the recommended is .025 which is equal to .5 of Valium. Some Jump from you’re at as well though. I myself will likely try to get down to .025 just to be safe.

I'm at .001 K and suffered all the way here with some windows and waves. Some jump from where you are and suffer and some are fine. How are you feeling now? How do you generally feel after a cut? You should do what you feel safe doing. Most recommend jumping from .025 K or stepping off even lower, but if the med is making you sick or you've had a relatively easy taper you may be alright to jump from higher.

Penny, thank you. That's very helpful to know. its nice to have a reference point to Valium, so I can look back at the Ashton manual with Klonopin specifically in mind. I really appreciate your response.

TrustGod, honestly this is such a hard one. Benzos actually make me feel terrible, as I get tremendous interdose withdrawals, etc. I actually started experiencing interdose withdrawals like a month into taking .5 of Klonopin, though my dr was only prescribing it 1x per day (which may have had a great deal to do with it). As far as tapering goes, I seem to have waves and windows whether I'm tapering or not-- though, of course, they do get stronger when I taper. I'm currently holding because I got into a bad wave during my last week and a half of slow taper. What you say makes a lot of sense. If I'm struggling just cutting 5% every 2 weeks, I would probably be doing myself a huge disservice making that big of a jump. I guess I'll taper down farther like you have. The slow taper, though still miserable, is manageable so far, and I haven't had to increase my dose or had any super severe reactions, so it must be working. Do you get waves even when you're holding? It's easy to think that maybe your symptoms are something else entirely when you continue to get waves while holding for a bit.

Its so hard to keep pushing through. It just feels like these tapers last an eternity. How are you feeling with yours? You are right in the cusp! That must be so exciting... or terrifying! I know people have different experiences!

I think I’m at .039 now and I’m feeling the reductions so I will step off at .001 unless I start to not feel waves anymore sooner. Not taking any chances. Can’t wait to be done but want to be safe. I’m sure you’ll make the right choice for you.

Takingon—

Come over to the “Under .125 Klonopin Club”.  There’s a bunch of us at .05 and lower on k.

You're doing really well. It wasn't sx free for me either. I did get waves and windows while holding. I held for a month once and it was bad but as soon as I cut I felt better. I did daily liquid micro taper to help reduce the symptoms and always keep going down as my brain seemed to like it when I cut after holding. You're really low so your taper down shouldn't be too long- but go at your own pace. Just remember that once you get below .01 if you continue at 5% every two weeks it could be a very long time. I speed up when I got to .02 and it got faster and fast. It was more difficult but I also feel worse after dosing so I wanted off.

Circlestar had a great suggestion. The Under .125 Klonopin Club helped me a bunch.

No matter what, you're going to be fine. You're consciously reducing and going slow. Someone told me the taper isn't supposed to be symptom free, just reduce the danger from the jump (no seizures etc) and now I agree. IF I waited to be symptom free, I'd have to not be on K because I was paradoxical. Down was the only way for me!

It’s there under support groups. There’s that one and Klonopin Club 2. I’m at .035 so not far from where you were. Hope all is going well for you.
