tapering off of klonopin for TBI/panic disorder

Recommended Posts

hi! i'm here because i was in a car accident, sustained a TBI, and was prescribed klonopin to manage severe panic disorder caused by the injury. i have been on it for almost 6 months but i am very sensitive to medications so it's been very hard to taper from (aside from the brain injury's complications itself). i am currently at .5mgs a day, in the middle of my taper, and taking a break to even out before i drop down another 10%. i do a lot of research on my condition(s) and i read that this website was the most helpful for another person trying to taper off of klonopin. i hope to get along with everyone here! :)

Hello  seafoam!

We are very glad that you found us!

I am to hear that you are getting off the  Clonazapam. Many sensitive folks have found that by doing a symptom based taper reducing 5 - 10% every 10 - 14 days and holding when necessary produces manageable symptoms. I would like to suggest that you do some research on the various boards. Becoming well informed should better enable you to make difficult decisions as well as provide you with the tools you need for a successful taper & recovery.  You will find many knowledgeable members who will support your efforts to be benzo free. I have enclosed a few links below that may help you. Check them out!

Wishing you a smooth taper & speedy recovery!
