Seroquel jump. A horrid drug

[Fo...]

Recommended Posts

Hi

Am jumping off Seroquel after rapid taper.

Should never have agreed to take it.

Flattens all joy and causes paradoxical anxiety.

This may be tough and I know BB friends will be there for me,

Thanks in anticipation

Dickie

Well done Dick, to be able to drive on the freeway without anxiety is a milestone.

I wish to follow your lead sometime, i haven't been able to drive a car ever since starting benzo's 7 years ago.

In pain Trench

Have posted elsewhere

Seems that day 5 of jump is when Seroquel all out of system.

Even making toast was huge effort today

Chin up

Hope you ok.  How much Seroquel are you on now?

When the time comes for you I promise getting down to 50, though taking a while was not too bad.

Best wishes

Oh bother, please say something wise to help.

I think I have shot myself in the foot.

Bad nights off Seroquel with abdo pain and total body ache.

I think dropping diazepam by 20 % only 19 days ago and then the Seroquel jump a week ago has led to a storm of anxiety in my head and loads of symptoms like benzo belly, unsteadiness and sleeplessness.

I have a temptation  to cover it with upping diazepam but resisting and having camomile and half dose of antihistamine.

This is the first time I have felt out of my depth with this whole business.

Michele reminded me it is just withdrawal and I have friends and holistic therapist but the intrusive physical symptoms and brain fog/fear are outrageous today.

Surely it will stabilise soon.?

Yours Dickie.

Dickie, go up on your dose of diazepam.

Micro taper, we can help you with the micro taper.

It’s 3:35a, so my wisdom is going to sound like operating room commands.

Go back up, you have been on too many years (51) to make 20% cuts, that is longer than I’ve been alive (34.)

May need to taper seroquel too.

I suggest tapering both, using a symptoms-based taper.

Get back up to near-full or full dosage of diazepam, “stat.”

___

I did not see that it’s been 3 weeks off the original dose of diazepam... not sure that going back up all the way is the best plan now. I thought it had been only several days, and even then there is concern for what is termed “kindling.”

I see that this is day 7 or 8 of the seroquel CT. Maybe it wouldn’t be good to follow what I was saying previously on this post. So sorry. Just concerned the suffering would have been too much. Reinstating is an option, that’s all. Sure hope you go slow and especially slow with the bzds after this.

I’m glad Captain Fantastic shared what he has and also TrustGod on your other thread. I agree that it would be good after this to consolidate your posts to one thread, having all issues up for help and support/ideas/feedback in one place.

You can start a thread (blog) in the faith section, or a blog out in the main forum—or both—too.

Lotso love your way,

Keep hanging on...

Michele

Hi all - I've posted this in the next-door thread. Too many threads to manage IMHO:

To be honest, at this stage I don't know whether to post in the general Benzos forum, here or on the Paxil forum.....

I'm about 8 months out from Benzos, 10 days off Seroquel and a week into Paxil tapering (40 to 20mg). Basically, there's no way of knowing which of these drugs is making me feel so shitty, and to what extent. Then, of course, there's the underlying depression and anxiety. Plus day to day worries and circumstances. Oh, and general health issues, getting older, falling down and splitting my forehead (I'm still groggy from that....

So now I'm back to interrupted/poor sleep. Exhaustion. Lethargy. V. severe muscle rigidity especially in neck, shoulders, back but now also constant jaw clenching. Frequent urination. Hollow feeling in chest and stomach, irregular, shallow breathing. Heart palpitations. These are some of the physicals.

Mentally, I have zero concentration and am plagued by intrusive thoughts/rumination. I replay situations, conversations, humiliations from yesterday back to infancy. Also, my mind will latch on to a thought and loop it indefinitely.

Strangely though, I am less inclined towards catastrophic projective thinking, less irritable more generous with friends / family.

I don't know how this will end but I do know that until I am free of all pharmaceuticals everything is guesswork, as much by me as by my psych doc.

In the meantime I try to be engaged in what I am doing, get some fresh air, eat healthily, no alcohol for me but I do like to vaporize high CBD content cannabis in the evening (I know, this is taboo for many), read, study, care for the kittens (awesome therapy, again not for everyone) and try to see things in perspective - old school "count your blessings".

Good luck everyone.

Captain,

Your in acute WD from Seroquel. The vomiting, heart palps, BP up and down, irrability, increase rebound anxiety and/or depression, etc. What your going now including insomnia. Seroquel is less severe than benzo WD but will be around on as long as benzo WD. You should feel better sooner this time. May take first 10 days to 2-3 weeks to have symptoms to clam down. What did you use Seroquel for anyway?

Captain Fantastic reporting for duty. I've almost forgotten about the seroquel at this stage. Only taking 10mg paxil now (when I don't forget to take it). Waves and windows all over the shop and sometimes I wonder whether I have developed a bipolar condition but my conclusion is that no, this is real life with (almost) no medications to anaesthesize the pain, but this is as it should be. I am more invested in my life and my relationships so it's inevitable that I will suffer a few slings and arrows. This is reality (I hope    8)

Exactly Captain.

It’s life and life only as Dylan wrote

Don’t label yourself. Of course being less drugged let’s our minds charge about.

If you get arrested fo mooning your BTM in Central Park then I might think differently.

Keep on trucking !

Dick

PS Paxil has a short half life so I hope you’ll take it real slow

Having real problems with seroquel. I think it's harder to taper than my benzo.  My doc suggested going from 600 to 400. Agony. It canceled out the effect of the benzo. Reinstated at 550, better, but this drug is a beast.

I suspect it is behind many of my withdraw issues.

I now am taking it as consistently as the benzo, hoping for sero stability, so I can experience overall stability. I am a week in. The first 3 days I noticed a huge improvement, hit a wave 3 days ago. Still in the wave,. UGHHHHH

It modulates neurotransmitters, especially dopamine and serotonin, but also gaba. This means it tries to balance out all of the neurotransmitters. This is why it can be so severe when cut or suddenly stopped. Just learned this. Hence, a consistent regular dose, just like the benzo, is required. And tapering should be slow.

Baddove

I feel your pain!!

I jumped from 25 and was fine for 4 days then worse than benzos. ---by far (though I have just dropped benzo by 20% too)

BUT I only updosed at day ten to 3 mg and its just about right. (advised from a BB)

I found I could go 100-75-50-37.5- with 4 week holds-then 25 with 8 weeks hold before I foolishing jumped.

Reasonably comfy

I hope you do likewise.

Question-

On your reinstatement.

Where were you when you jumped, (do you mean quit?) and how much did you reinstate.

I don't know how much to take!

I was irregular with the seroquel, having no idea it has to be the same doses, a pattern, just like Benzoes.

I was anywhere from 600 to 200, averaging 500? I did not know it had to be the same!!

Anyway, the 400 mg my doctor advised was worse than tapering a benzo.

I am now taking 450 through the night (3 doses of 150)

added in an extra 100 in the afternoon, but I absolutely hate it, and can't do it anymore.

If I am to bump over the 450, I have to add it to a night dose.

There is so little guidance on this. Plus, I was so inconsistent with sero dosing (just ignorance)

If I knew where you started, and what you reinstated to, it would help me determine how much to dose.

Thank you!!!

Started on 100 coming down in 25s  Stopping at 25 and reinstating as below

I had ten days off 25 and felt awful so at ten days took two days on 12.5 —-much too much .....read article sent to me ...I had over sensitised so took then only three mg expecting to need more but it is fine.

I am afraid it’s the up and down that has mucked you up.

You need to take only as much as you need until you feel comfort then stabilise. It may befor 450 a day or as low as 150 a day depending how sensitised you are.

Think it over......what was you average daily dose before doc cut it?

Then come down by ten percent might be good.

I will go down a boot up main Mac and send you PM with the great advice I had verbatim.

Chat online soon.

Good luck

Dick
