Cold medicine = symptom flare up?

Can cold medicine cause a flare up in symptoms. I am 6 months off and was feeling 95%. I came down with a viral infection and took a variety of cold meds for over a week. Since then, my dizziness, cog fog, and pins and needles symptoms have returened. Im just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Yes! This happened to me just recently. I contracted the flu from my S.O. and took NyQuil to get relief from awful symptoms and hopefully get some sleep. The longer I took NyQuil the worse the benzo withdrawal type symptoms became. At day 4 I thought I was going crazy and had to stop taking it. Granted, I am still suffering from protracted withdrawal anyway... but taking the NyQuil made it severe. Horrible cog-fog, fearfulness, dizziness, reduced vision, just feeling off my gourd. It took me two weeks to feel like I was before the flu. I don’t think I’ll take NyQuil again for the cold or flu for a long time... or ever. I don’t know what ingredient caused the problem but it was terrible. Hope you are feeling better. I don’t know what to take if we get sick again!

I am almost 18 months off and still cannot take any OTC cold meds, they trigger waves.

But also viral infections flare up my symptoms too.
