Advice PLEASE!! Jump today, or “stabilize” more?

Well, title says it all. Please, please, please weigh in. I’d love any and all options and personal experiences. I’m at .25mg liquid compounded Valium. I’ve been at this dose for about a week.

I did a daily liquid microtaper over the past year, down from 5mg at the beginning of April 2018. I’ve had severe headaches and muscle spasms all the way down. Now, the muscle spasms are head-to-toe and excruciating. So, so painful. I walk with a limp, my arms burn and ache, my legs are in fire and cramp all of the time.

I just want to quit this junk. But is it better/easier to feel really comfortable BEFORE you jump? Does that happen or am I just dreaming?

I’m prepared for this to suck big time. Just want to weigh my options!!

Quit today? Yes or NO, in your opinion??

Thank you!!😘

Well done on your taper!

For me, “stabilizing” was elusive; and as such, chose to keep pushing through to zero, and I am glad I did. With my history of multiple tapers and CT’s i experienced acute once off (began at 5 weeks off) but then signs of healing began to surface.

Best of luck on whatever you decide. You are almost there!

Thank you Ss24! Did you feel relatively stable for 5 weeks? And then acute? Can you please tell me, how/what changed then? I timed my jump for when I have 4-6 weeks of fewer activities, so my acute could be during that time! Valium has a long half life, so I’m wondering if the acute will hit later- I was hoping the worst of it would start within a couple of weeks, so I can gauge what I’m dealing with! Hard to plan ahead of you don’t have a clue what it will be like, you know?

StTeresa,

Yes, I was relatively stable until 5 weeks after I finished my taper  then the physical pain intensified as I hit acute which lasted several weeks before stabilizing

Valium is is a complicated drug breaking down into metabolites (oxazepam & temazepam) along with the main N-desmethyldiazepam which has a 1/2 life if over 100 hours but how we métabolisé the drug will impact the elimination.

I have issues with phase II liver enzymes (glucoronidation) which prolonged my acute phase.

You will be different and may bounce back sooner.

Planning is very hard, I found. I cleared my calendar as best I could but still required more weeks of couch and healing. Looking back, I am thankful I didn’t hold and wait to stabilize and just got on with off and healing.

Good luck and I look forward to hearing about you healing!

It is extremely unlikely the dose you are on is having any real effect as it's so low. If I were you I would just be rid of it but obviously it's your call.

You mention waiting until you feel comfortable but that could take a while as you are probably in acute right now due to the low dose.

I jumped from taking random daily doses of 2.5/5/10mg valium because I just wanted off and I was very unstable trying to reduce the dose steadily and always ended up taking more if I couldn't sleep .. you have done really well with your taper by the sounds of it so hopefully your experience of jumping is much smoother than mine.

All the best

I jumped at 1mg V 57 days ago, StTeresa.  I was symptomatic when I jumped, but just wanted OFF.  Over it.

These past 57 days have been horrible, acute.  Then 3 days ago saw a turnaround.  I am so happy, and really hope it continues, and hope I'm not counting my chickens.    :-[

Never, throughout any stage of these 57 days, even though horrible, have I regretted jumping.  The road lay ahead for me to begin to heal completely.

I'd jump StT.

Dee

Going low n slow worked great for me.. (sig) -But thats my situation.. I started to lose SX at 0.25V as I held, -Yet some old and new SX made a minor appearance.. The exeption was anxiety for the first time, -It hung on a bit more hence the 4months healing post jump, rather than next to no real intensity increase...

I usually suggest using ones taper history as a guide, -where possible.. I kinda get the feeling that you are getting pretty close to being ready, perhaps a bit longer than a week on 0.25V, -Depending on how you feel about it all..

-I dont have a strong feeling either way here, -if thats the right way to put it...

Out of interest, -what was your plan for here say 3-6 months ago..??

Mainly, Well done for a great effort, and best wishes as you get your "new" life back..

:)

StTeresaA,

I'm in the same boat as you although I'm on a very lose dose of K. I believe it's .015 mg of V. I think we are in acute now because we are on microscopic doses. It's been getting worse and worse the lower I go, especially below .01 K.  I've been posting everywhere about how scared I am and how I'm not stable. I too thought I should be stable to jump but I'm going to be jumping soon so I can heal. Everyone is different though, listen to your body, your instinct, and the wisdom you get from others on here that have been through it. I'm hoping for the best for you and prayers lifted for you! Either way, you will get through this--you went low and slow!

StTeresaA,

I’d jump. I jumped at less than a week on .25 mg valium 51 days ago. I felt worse the lower I got, and stabilization wasn’t going to happen. I started feeling especially terrible when I dropped to 1 mg. My taper was protracted and gradual.

For me the biggest issues were and remain weakness, fatigue, and erratic blood sugar level.

At 51 days off I feel awful. I’m just glad to be off. I will never get near any benzo again. As I’m in dietary ketosis in a successful bid to lose the belly/visceral fat I gained during taper, I’m sure that continued release of valium metabolites is hitting me hard. The glucuronidation process isn’t kind when excess adipose tissue is involved, in my opinion.

My take is that taper and post-taper leave us in a state of metabolic acidosis, which is the cause of most if not all of our symptoms. Hydration, electrolytes, LCHF/alkaline diet, baking soda in a glass of water, urine pH testing, couch, and exercise as possible.

All my love and support to you!

sila

Jump!!! It’s my honest opinion that we’re never really “stable” taking these drugs after we become tolerant. I’m rooting for you!

I ended up taking one last dose today- at .2mg of V. My son’s bday is Monday and I have to make a big cake tomorrow- just didn’t want to be too sore.

  Y’all- this is it!!!

I am DONE!!

Holy Moly. That’s it. I’m actually done.

Btw- I started eating keto about 5 days ago. I’m in ketosis, tested positive on urine strip, and my constant burning muscles are a teeny bit better. Last Monday, I felt like I was actually dying. Today, I’m just sore all over and uncomfortable. I’m sure things will change but for now- lets do this!!

Let the healing begin!!
