Hyper ParaThyroid Issues?

[...]

Can Xanax cause Hyper Parathyroid issues.?

I've been diagnosed with Osteoperosis. I'm 33 and my doctor said my PTH level is high and I'm Vitamin D defficent.

I have read that Dr Ashton said benzos disturb Endocrine  system of body.

I cannot figure out its due to benzos or my body is seriously having issues. I'm 2 months and 25 days Xanax free from 10 day use CT. Any one else having Thyroid or ParaThyroid or Osteoperosis?

My heart rate is elevated and symptoms coincides with HyperParaThyroid and Xanax withdrawal.

As I’ve mentioned in your other posts, Vitamin D deficiency causes a host of thyroid issues, along with osteoporosis. Do not wait on this as it’s unrelated to benzo. Address your Vit D hormone issue!

My first lab test

Calcium 9.9 mg/dl

Vitamin D 10.6ng/ml

2nd Test

Calcium 9.8 mg/dl

Vitamin D 61.9ng/ml

Third Test

PTH 72.9 pg/ml

Calcium 9.8 mg/dl

I've been put on high vitamin D dose. So far no improvement.

Benzos withdrawal opened a lot more problems for me.

It takes months for your body to correct itself once you get to a sufficient level. Why are you still taking a high Vit D dose? Is there a doctor directing you?

With calcium below 10.0 you likely do not have this.  Go to Norman Parathyroid website and you can get the best education on this.  I did have this and have had the surgery.  Good luck.

I second this. Calcium below 10.00 and normal PTH is not indicative of Primary Hyperparathyroidism. I have had the disease as well but before being put on benzos. Go to the Norman Parathyroid website and check it out.

  • 3 months later...
Hyperparathyroidism is hard to catch. Some are normocalcemic. If you really want to get to the bottom of this, geth your PTH, calcium and vitamin D from the same draw and get the draws a few weeks apart for a period of time.

Endocrinologist has advised me 50000IU weekly for one mont . He will be doing lab tests again to confirm the issue.

I did this a year ago, long before my BWD. Now I take a 5000IU supplement daily. And... I get out in the sun regularly. My D levels are good again.
