I have been an RN nurse for many years. I used to believe in pills. But now I just don't. I took benzos for many years, plus the last 12 years I took 2 different ADs to combat the depression I later found out was being CAUSED by benzos. This is crucial for you to understand. My personal opinions is that the SSRIs are NOT safe drugs, and will NOT help depression. The companies that make SSRIs suppressed the truth about their own research that showed people did just as well on sugar pills. They only published the positive studies. I also think some of the older ADs help some people. Elavil, and others ion that class, the NON SSRI ADs. But they do not work for everyone.

Something I had to learn (the hard way) is to never trust pills again. Just because my doctors prescribes it does not mean I have to take it. My current PMD is fine with this, but my old one got all huffy when I would not take his suggestions. Plus he is the person who forced me to go CT off ALL of those drugs.

Once I began to heal from benzos and ADs, to my utter surprise, I no longer felt depressed and also not anxious in the same situations that used to make me anxious! I still find this amazing. That benzos and ADS did such a horrible thing for me is utterly astounding.
