Unsure of amount of alprazolam/diazepam my brain thinks it needs??

Hello, brand new to the forum so hi everyone. I'm UK based and began abusing xanax and diazepam (both not prescribed) for the last maybe 8 months after a traumatic period in my life.

Didn't know much about them, but what I did know is that they helped me pick myself up, function, meet someone new, socialise and continue making my work. However I didn't respect the havoc these things can cause although I found out the hard way when I simply stopped for nearly a week.

5 or 6 nights without sleep, constant terror, struggling for breath, suicidal thoughts.... Im sure I don't need to go on as everyone here will know what I mean. Due to the state I was in it was only after this I realised what the problem was as stupid as that sounds.

My problem is I simply don't know how much I was taking so I began to take 0.5mg of xanax x 3 which succeeded in taking the edge off my symptoms but no more.

Now xanax/alprazolam in the UK is still fairly unheard of, as evidenced by my doc and the psychiatric nurses shaking their heads when I told them so I have decided to attempt to switch straight to diazepam although I'm the first to admit I'm absolutely clueless about all this, i took 15mg diazepam this morning and I still don't feel right.

Sorry for the long post but my question really is, should I up my dose to a point where I feel relatively comfortable as my days are very difficult just now or should I grit my teeth and stick to that amount?

Currently I have pushed everybody away due to how I feel and the tremors, depression, feeling of unreality and lack of enjoyment in anything at all are very difficult to contend with.

Thank you very much in advance and again apologies for the long post from a guy scared out of his wits just now 😔😔

Hey SB,

Yes it can be a bit tricky to find that perfect starting point, esp on a new benzo, or change in your case...

Perhaps just give it a bit of time and adjust if needed, V has a long half life, so it could take a week or two to truly know where your at... I wouldnt aim too high, or more to be feeling too great, but you dont want your body trying to adjust in a state of shock either...

The advice I got when I asked was -Stop bouncing around and pick a dose...  I hope we can improve on that here... But it does have certain merit...

Welcome to Benzo Land... -Where there are no definant answers... :(
