I have been taking .25 triazolam at night for sleep for about two months. I recently connected some dots and realized it is making me feel terrible. I desperatly want to get off of it, everything I have read makes it sound like I can't by myself. I am having a hard time, and am feeling so discouraged. I need help. Has anyone tapered off of this? Had I realized the dangers of this medication, I would never have started. Pre triazolam I was rotating every other night between alprazolam and clonazepam. I was rotating between the two so that I didn't get used too used to any one medication. I don't take either of those currently, I am just taking the triazolam.

Hello, Argh :) - welcome to BenzoBuddies!

Not everyone has difficulty coming off benzodiazepines, so there’s no need to assume the worst at the outset. However, they should never be prescribed for more than a short few weeks, so it’s a good decision to begin tapering off.

Since you were on three different benzos, perhaps you still have the option to choose the best one from which to taper – members here may have some useful experiences to share that may help with your decision.

I'm so glad you decided to join the forum - you'll find plenty of information and support here. Our members have gone through all aspects of benzodiazepine use and withdrawal, so you'll be able to connect with others who understand what you're going through.

Here are a couple of links that may be a good starting place for you:

The Ashton Manual is an authoritative resource on what to expect during withdrawal and recovery. It provides information that can be very reassuring during any stage of this process, including a list of common symptoms with helpful explanations.

For those who are currently tapering, a starting guideline is that the dosage not be reduced faster than by 5-10% every 10-14 days, although some taper even more slowly than that. One exception: very short-term users of a few weeks or less may be able to taper somewhat faster.

Hi Argh  :smitten:,

I was under clonazepam for 3.5 years, running through hell and despair, when I found this site. Most moderators in this site are wonderful people that managed to drag themselves out of benzo addiction. They have extensive experience and lot of wisdom. In my case, moderator pianogirl's words accompanied me along the battle and now I'm 2.5 month off benzo. I feel good and can't be thankful enough for everybody in here.

It's a hard battle as recurrent bad symptoms will make you think you can never stop this drug. In reality it is actually your body that is readjusting itself towards a zero-benzo condition.

I'm sure you will find your way out with the help from buddies of this site. We all here made the big error to take benzo. Please don't make a bigger error to give up the withdrawal.
