Overwhelmed With Too Much Info - Please Help Regarding Valium Taper

Recommended Posts

Hi all...

I'm sure the info I'm looking for is in a post here, but I am so overwhelmed with all the info, I'm just basically confused. Please forgive me.

I'm at 4 mgs of Valium. I take 2 mg at 8 am and 2 mgs at 8 pm. I've tapered down by .50 mg each month from 7.5 mgs since January. I had some WD sx, but it wasn't too bad until September. I started having terrible vertigo, tinnitus, nystagmus, etc. I've stabilized to the point where it's mostly just off balance. I've now been on the 4 mg daily for 6 weeks. My tinnitus is variable but constant. I do have some tingling in my face, an occasional heart palpitation, and some minor twitching in my feet and eyelids at this point. Of note, I do have Meniere's, but it was under control. I started having tolerance withdrawal at the end of last year, and my ENT suggested that I try a slow taper.

I have 2 questions -

1. Should I stay at this dose for a while?  If so, how will I know when I can start tapering again?

2. At 4 mgs per day, how much (percentage) and how often should I reduce. I know slow and steady is the way. I have full support of my PCP, my ENT,  and my rheumatologist. They'll prescribe liquid Valium along with my 2 mg tablets as long as necessary.

I just need to know what to do going forward.

Please, Benzo Buddies...throw me a bone.

Thanks!!!
