I haven't started tapering yet. Currently taking around 20mg of norflurzepam a day (long acting like valium) along with varying etizolam, 1-5mg, similar to xanax but ~1/2 potency).

I only started messing with this stuff 2 months ago, but I've read enough now to know it's time to start tapering down. Hoping to do it fairly quickly given my relatively short use.

The zopiclone is another story. I honestly haven't slept without it for 15+ years.

Also an alcoholic currently in remission. No plans to drink any more. Not sure why I thought it would ever be a good idea to experiment with this crap... I guess it's mainly because I was starting a new job and wanted to be an extrovert. Introversion and being slow to speak has IMO always held me back. On GABA drugs, I feel like a relaxed, sociable genius - the person society wants us all to be. If only the drugs didn't exact their price.

Hello Retalsca  Welcome to BenzoBuddies.

I am glad you found us, you will receive plenty of support here.  Well done to you for staying off alcohol.    It doesn’t take long for the body to become dependent on these drugs.  If you have been on benzos more than a few weeks, the generally accepted taper rate is 5-10%, every 10 to 14 days.  You can taper quicker than this,  the rate can be adjusted to meet your needs. The aim is to keep withdrawal symptoms manageable.

You’re going to be okay, you can do this, and when you are ready to taper off the Zopiclone, it will need to be tapered in the same manner as the benzodiazepines.

I would suggest you read The Ashton Manual, It is a great resource for understanding the effect benzo’s have on our body.  It provides Tapering and withdrawal information and includes a list of common symptoms

Our members are a caring bunch of people who have been through all aspects of benzodiazepine use and withdrawal, and will share their experiences with you.

If you would be so kind as to add a signature (history of meds/doses etc) it will help members give you relevant advice this link will show you how to”Create a signature”

Feel free to post on any of our dedicated boards.
