Taper plan for all this

Hello all. I’m posting because I need to figure out which taper approach might be the best for my somewhat complicated (I feel it is anyway) RX routine.

 

I had been taking 100 1 mg/xanax and 30 count of 30 mg temazepam per month. I was also binge drinking multiple times per week and taking 30 10 mg of ambien/month. 

 

I have tapered and I am currently taking 2.5 mg of xanax/day and just under 15 mg temazepam. I quit drinking completely a little over 2.5 months ago, I figured I would have to if I was going to get myself of benzos once and for all.

 

I also take ambien a few nights a week - currently 10-15 mg per dose. I can go days without ambien and I’m not noticing any negative feelings other than the obvious being harder to sleep some nights. I feel I might like the option to take ambien a few nights a week as I taper benzos so I can ensure a good shot at mental and physical recovery via sleep.

 

I have been doing my doses as 1.25 at bed, then .75 about 3 to 4 hours later (which serves as a second dose to fall back asleep). Finally I do the last .5 xanax about 7 hours later. The last benzo of the day is my 15 mg of temazepam which I take 7.5 hours after my last dose of xanax.

 

So my schedule with my upside down hours currently looks like this:

 

Xanax:

1.25 around 4:45 AM 

.75 around 9 AM

.5 around 4:30 PM

Temazepam (15 mg):

11:30 PM

 

Tapering so far has not been too bad to be honest. I have noticed some anxiety and some negative thoughts between doses of xanax occasionally. Also some headaches lately. I would like to not experience the “mini withdrawal” between doses of Xanax during taper if possible. I am interested in possibly switching from xanax and temazepam to valium for further taper but so far from what I’ve read there can be pros or cons to switching. I’m currently still studying and researching about switching. I need to figure out something pretty soon here and taper further. Any thoughts on a taper plan for me?
