0.6 mg of Valium...

(I'm sorry for my English but it's not my first language) I'm down to 0.6 mg of valium and it took me two years from 1 mg xanax to arrive here, but now my symptoms are too bad and I feel like I can't taper anymore. At this point i'm going very slowly...0.025mg every month but still too rapid for me. Should I hold for one/two months? My waves never last more than two weeks but I think that taking a long break will help me to continue my taper in a better condition. Anyway, at this rate  it will take me 3 years to reach the zero point...Is this normal? Am I too sensitive?

No, I don't think that you're not too sensitive.  I think you're being intelligent and adjusting your taper as necessary to deal with your withdrawal symptoms.  Many people find that the last few cuts are difficult.  You'll get to zero and heal, and you'll probably be glad that you did it as slowly as you did.

Thank you very much for the answer, it's really encouraging...I already had a big wd form Paxil that lasted two years but now I'm really determined to avoid the big crush form benzos. I'm just 25 and I don't wanna be a vegetable again, I need to stay functional, even if this means to go through a never ending taper.

It shouldn’t take one year to get off of 0.6mg Valium. That is a sub-therapeutic dose, and you can quit now. Your “withdrawal” from that low of a dose will be 90% psychological.

This is not true. Even tiny doses can still bind to a large amount of receptors. Some people here had 2 years of WD jumping at 0.5mg of valium after 3 years of taper. I can feel every small cut I do and this means that my brain is sensible enough to need all that time for weaning off the rest of this poison. There is a small percentage of people that are exactly like me. It's just about your own biology and sensitivity.

I'm skeptical that anyone has experienced two years of withdrawal because they jumped from 0.5mg Valium (instead of going to 0). You would be unable to find ANY researcher or medical professional who agrees with you. Even the most benzo-phobic ones.

You're right, doctors deny it, in fact this forum is born because they won't believe and help us. If you read the posts you can find a lot of people that are gone or are going trough this. Maybe you need to learn something about it. If you read the success story you will see that people often need 2,3 or 4 years to have their life back after quitting the benzos, but if you ask to a doctor, he will tell you that this is just impossibile. Why? Big Pharma doesn't wanna let you know about it.

Yes, I think you should hold for one, two or even three months.  My longest hold was five months and I felt so much better going into the next stage in my taper.  Even the tiniest amounts can effect you, especially at the end of your taper.

Thank you very much, I think I will definitely hold for a while...maybe just two months because my waves never last more than few weeks and my  symptoms are still manageable. I hope I'll feel well as you did when I'll restart my taper.

I would have to agree with mb. I just dropped 5 mg and I’m feeling symptoms but at this point you are in, it’s best to not prolong the inevitable. I take my pills and they are not even therapeutic anymore.

I can still feel my three drops of valium when I take them. I'm really thin and sensitive... I had 2 years of W/D after 7 months of paxil on a very low dose (5 drops). While tapering the valium I had just few symptoms till 0.8mg, now, if I cut 0.025 every month I hit bad waves and can't barely go out of bed for  weeks. What would happen If I jump now? I know my body and I had already had 2 Wd...probably I will have  long lasting symptoms, at least one year and I can't do this now. I'm studying on a very expensive university and I need to stay functional till my graduation. A lot of people have regretted to jump at 0.5mg valium, while other did well. People recover in 1,2,3 or up to 6 years. We are all different. In my opinion, the last cuts are the most important to avoid the PAWS. If you want to minimise the symptoms you need to reach the 0 point almost healed. This is what I think is good for me and for my OWN biology and sensitivity.

Hey there aissela,

Congrats on getting so far in your taper. Just do what your body tells you. You’re right, it’s important to keep your head right for your school.

You might check out the support groups. There is a “ long hold” group and also a “3.2.1 Valium” group with people on low doses who are extra sensitive to cuts that would understand exactly where you are coming from.

Have a great day!

Thank you so much, I didn't know anything about this group for extra sensitive people...I'm not alone ;)

No, you're not alone at all.  Many people here are dealing with sensitive metabolisms/emotions.
