I think my brain is fried

So I think I may have residual memory issues, and it is a bit depressing to think about.

A few days ago, my husband pulled Halloween stuff out of the attic. One of the items on the floor afterwards, was a very large skull. I said "that must be new, where did you get that?"--never had seen it before. My husband and stepson looked at me--don't you recall having this on the front porch? Apparently we didn't get it down last year, but the year before, they put it out and waited for me to walk by it with bated breath. It makes a scary noise and says something (now I can't recall what!) when you walk by. I did have a vague recollection of it after they said that, but not much. I really did think it was new. How could I forget an oversize skull?

Names, and the exact word I want, are much more difficult. I used to think my clients had bad memories, as they forgot stuff I told them all the time, but now I'm not so sure that I'm not that bad. I often can't recall exactly what I told them! I've prided myself on juggling a lot of things and it's becoming a lot harder.

Anyway, just ranting as it sucks.

I feel for you meowie

I still have trouble with memory. It sucks when I try to play it off like its normal. Like "who can remember the name of that person from last year" and then everybody does and they just look at you. My brain always feels like a worn out battery with no recharges left.  :idiot:

Hi meowie, I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling. I just wanted to let you know that you are a wonderful person in spite of that memory issue, you have helped me and many people on this forum.

I do hope that it will be getting better for you soon. I am also struggling with poor memory, but I'm still in the early days of withdrawal.

Hang on in there! Big hugs and all my strength to you!

Hi Meowie,

Please don’t worry, this happened to a lot of us.

Even though my mental acuity is sharp again (i.e., for solving complex data problems), I’ve noticed that there are blank spots from even the recent past, where I have absolutely no memory of something, very similar to your experience with the skull.

I recently admired a ring that my daughter was wearing, and asked where she got it. Turns out I gave it to her myself, around the time I had hit tolerance.

There are so many instances of this, but I’m sure it is temporary. Also, once I make the connections, I don’t forget again, so I think that’s a good sign. Even if you run into more of these blank spots, I think that your brain will ‘update’ the right information and maintain it after that.

You’re definitely not alone with this.

Thanks so much for the support, you guys, you are so sweet!  :smitten:

Yesterday we went to a park with waterfalls that we often go to. I found a neat little grotto area that was kind of hidden away, and mentioned it to my husband. He said "yes, you found that last time we were here".  :o

LeslieAsh--you make a very good point. A lot of stuff that I'm having issues with is stuff that happened in the last couple of years, during the period when I've had most of my withdrawal problems. I don't seem to have problems pulling up older memories so far. I think my chronic pain issue is also a huge part of this (pain takes about 30% off the brain from the start). Hopefully you are right--maybe my brain will take this stuff in a lot better!
