I'm very worried that Ill never be able to focus on anything or have motivation. I started noticing it right after June when I got dependent. Has anyone else had this? I wander around my house and my bed calls me. I'm in a very low place, its overwhelming and scary. I lost my job and feel no purpose. I cant get myself to even go in the car with my husband or daughters. My physical symptoms are really bad too. I have the internal tremor/ bad insomnia/muscle twitches. I resorted to taking the remeron the dr pescribed as a last ditch effort-7.5 mg. Only slept 2 hours last night on it. Does that get better??

I've had a lot of trouble with apathy both during and after my taper. It wasn't until the last month or two that I started feeling my motivation come back.

Your sleep will definitely get better as your withdrawal progresses and you begin to heal.  But I've got to warn you, it is a slow process, but you will get there.  Your motivation/focus will comeback too.  Right now be very gentle with yourself, don't push too hard, and give yourself permission to heal.  Nothing else matters right now, not family members, not job, or driving.  Only YOU matter now, so you can heal.  Wishing you all the best!

Hey there, I hear you about having no focus or motivation, I'm exactly the same way. If I need to get some food from the local shops (only a 2 min walk for me), I have to drag myself there. Everything seems to hard and too much and what's the point anyway, I don't enjoy anything anymore.

What gives me hope is I had a window a few weeks ago, for about 2 days, and I got my motivation back, in fact I remember how the idea of lazing around the house seemed unbearably boring and I just wanted to get out and do something. Even though I don't feel like that now, it reminded me of the person I used to be and who I will be again. We are in withdrawal, the negativity will pass, it just takes patience.

How do you occupy yourself during the day? Its so hard without much sleep I find myself in bed a lot.. I'm depressed so its not good.

I'm with you all on the no motivation lack of joy thing. I have had a few glimmers, very short, so I know it's there. I can't wait til that comes back.

I dont usually do anything producive throughout the day. I laze around alot, go online, tv, read a bit and lay around on my bed. I dont sleep great either so I dont have much energy through the day. Ive been trying to do some exercise a few times a week so thats positive I guess. As I wrote before I would be bored out of my mind living this way If I was well, but when Im in a wave I just cant seem to do anything much at all. I think its a combination of fatigue, brain fog and depression/anxiety that keeps me from doing anything.

Sunshine,

Walking is my go to. Especially when I was so agitated. I was walking five miles a day in acute. Strangely I was stronger in acute than I am now. And hot baths with Epsom salts. But the walking is what helps me most.

Yes walking is a great idea actually. I have done a bit of walking, but sort of on and off. Its the sort of exercise I can tolerate fine and its quite therapeutic to be outside. I definetely dont think it does me much good to spend all day inside, walking is a really good break in the monotony of being stuck indoors.
