If I listen to a song for even just 2 minutes, it keeps playing in the back of my head for hours and sometimes days until it drives me crazy!

It’s actually called an earworm.

Very common during withdrawal, and for me it was really intense. :o

Has it gone for you Leslie? I still get this, but mostly just in waves now.

I still get the normal kind, where a piece of music, or even a phrase, gets stuck in my head and repeats - but never in an intrusive or scary way anymore.

It’s easy now to replace an earworm with normal thoughts, whew. You’ll probably see some relief soon.

Mine is more annoying than anything and often lets me know for sure I'm in a wave. Like a warning signal almost. Hopefully that goes away with the other sx as the anxiety stuff starts to subside more.

I listened to music all the way through. I cannot live with music. Try just listening to instrumental music then there are no words to get looped into your mixed up brain. Just enter the band Hammock into spotify or pandora you'll get some peaceful ass music that wont drive you nuts

Try bands like Hammock,Tycho, explosions in the sky etc

here is a good track from hammock

Looping music. There is a gigantic thread on looping music.

Music has been my one true savior during these times.

I listen to new music nonstop.

I found classical / modern classical / piano music really does the trick due to the lack of repition. Also classical music helps your brain in many ways.

I would also loop music.  My coping strategy was to keep playing music (softly) all day and all night (until I'd fall asleep).  I preferred classical or mellow ambient music.  No 'black' metal.

I play piano, and had to back off practicing for a while as I would loop what I'd been repeatedly practicing pretty badly.

This is bad for me as well. Weird feeling to have a chorus or a few words stuck on repeat in your head. The more you try to block it off it will continue to play. Even random advertisements on TV.

Hi all,

I'm kind of new here. I read a lot but don't post too much. I'm 4.5 months off and suffering through tinnitus. Last night I played a summer night white noise type thing with crickets. After I turned it off I heard crickets for the next two hours. Is this normal?  I had this in acute but not since. The tinnitus has my brain so messed up anymore I can't tell what I'm hearing or where it's coming from. I feel like I'm a bat. Hearing every slight thing at great volume. Is this a normal thing?  I'm hoping my auditory system isn't damaged forever.

Thanks for listening.
