Cipro 11 months after beginning w/d

Hey BB, I have developed a bad case of epididymitis. I told the doctor no quinilones and he said that is fine, we tried a full course of doxycyline but unfortunately it didn't knock out the infection and extrodinary pain. My doctor is very understanding of my situation, however says that Cipro is probably our only other option as most other antibiotics won't get into the tissues down there well. I did not have any issues with the doxy, but I am severely worried about taking the Cipro .  Does anyone have any positive experiences with Cipro? Like no adverse effects during w/d? Last time I had prostatitis in 2015 I was on Cipro for 30 days and had no long term effects

'The Fluoroquinolone Wall of Pain'

I would never ever take this stuff

There's no way to predict how you might react to a fluoroquinolone. Some people don't seem to have a problem, but many others do. A lot of people who've never taken a benzo react badly to them. Did the doxy help at all? One particular treatment is to give a single IM shot of ceftriaxone, followed by 10 days of doxy (or 10 more days of doxy in your case). That might be something to consider. Also, a combination of azithromycin and cefixime has also been used depending on the bacterial cause of the infection. Might be worth running these options by your doctor.

Are you currently taking a benzo, or are you off?

Cipro displaces the benzo at the receptor site, so it can mimic a CT.  If you are currently taking a benzo, I would be very reluctant to take cipro.

But since the problem is that it displaces the benzo, if you are NOT an a benzo, it can't interfere with the benzo effect.

That said, cipro can be a nasty med under the best of circumstances, and I would only consider it as a last resort in any case.

I was floxed. I was on Levaquin for 6-8 weeks ? Along with 4/5 other antibiotics.

The quinilones have a black box warning for tendon damage. People have actually lost their mobility because of this drug.

The worst thing I am dealing with now is joint and tendon pain. I have problems walking, it's been a couple months that I have been off all the antibiotics, but the pain in my tendons is all day/everyday snd I now limp.  :(

But it's better than being dead. I had a severe near fatal infection, so there wasn't much choice for me at the time.

Recently had another Dr. try to prescribe it, and I said no. If I might die without it, I would take it, otherwise, nope, nope, nope. Just my experience.
