Does anyone have a sore tongue tapering Ativan.

It has hurt for months, I think it is a reaction to the Ativan....

I am tapering K and my whole mouth, including tongue is sore and tingling. Actually my teeth hurt. Ridiculous as it sounds . . . YOU are not alone with this symptom. I THOUGHT I was the only one.

very bothersome with eating, no taste buds . . .

yes, I had it, during a stressful time with lot of anxiety. It went away, when my anxiety lessened.

I have had mild thrush off and on after coming off benzos. I've read others have had the same.

I have had a sore tongue off and on. Also I think it might be worth mentioning that a sore tongue can be a symptom of B-12 deficiency. I thought I suffered from this before I zeroed in on xanax as a culprit. I did fit the profile of B-12 deficiency: older (50's), vegan/vegetarian diet, athlete. All of these can reduce B-12 levels over time. My B-12 turned out to be ok, but I got it tested only after I had been on supplements for some time, so I'll never really know if I was deficient. However, there is a common thread through all of this. B-12 deficiency, like Benzos, screws with the nervous system. So B-12, Benzos, and yes, just run-of-the-mill anxiety can inflame the tongue.

Also, since this has been an on again and off again issue for me, the last thing I will mention is your toothpaste. I have found that as I have gotten older, and now that I am trying to taper off of xanax, my mouth is much more sensitive to strong toothpastes. If you are using a whitening toothpaste, there are loads of chemicals that can be an irritant, including many that have no effect on cleaning your teeth. Sodium lauryl sulfate, for example, is what makes the suds when you brush. It has no effect on cleaning, just the illusion of cleaning. Many people are sensitive to that chemical. I'm wondering if those of us coming off of benzos might be particularly sensitive. Also steer clear of toothpaste for "sensitivity." These actually have numbing agents in them to numb your teeth, and hence make them less sensitive. They are not mild toothpastes - in fact, just the opposite.
