I found 2 mg of Xanax in my old sports running jacket...

When I was heading to the gym the other day and put an old sports running jacket on for the first time in years... I found a receipt from the local Supermarket in the pocket dated August 23, 2014, as well as two Xanax 1 mg tablets.

 

For the first time in 15 years, I did not react like I found a 1000 dollars or more... That feeling was really weird and honestly, I got disgusted! Disgusted by the fact that I felt it was necessary to bring 2 mg of Xanax (on top of the daily 4 mg I was on) when going to the gym 75 meters away and by the fact that I have been a total slave under Xanax for so long..!

 

Even though my withdraw symptoms never seem to go away, it seems that I - at least - have another relationship to the root of the problem - Myself (and Xanax)

Actually, I haven't. But I had/have zero attachment to them.  And I am 100 % sure that if I would have a relapse, the benzo would have no effect at all. The only thing it would do is to postpone my healing and making the withdraw even worse so that will never happen.

Great post!  Yes I found some ambien in the cupboard recently and visibly recoiled.... I remember how happy I was when the doc gave me 50 originally.... 50....

Yes, great post.  I love the disgusted feeling that the thought of benzos brings me now.

 

It's funny you mention this.  Last night I apparently dropped a melatonin tablet next to my computer.  It's a small pink, scored pill.  It looked a little like a 1 mg clonazepam tablet, and when I saw it this morning, I literally recoiled as if I'd seen a snake.  It was a little funny.  So glad that little nightmare in a pill is out of my life.

About a year after my taper ended I found a fuzzy Xanax in a pocket of an old purse.  Had the same 'recoil' feeling others describe...like a snake in my purse.  Threw it out, kind of had a hard time even touching it.
