Hello,

I am in my 2nd health crisis that resulted in going on .5 MG klonopin (was originally at 1 MG starting April 2017, but reduced to .5 in June_.  With my first crisis back in 2012 I used this site to help me withdrawel from 1 MG larazapam (thank you very much).

I am currently weaning off cymbalta and nearly finished.  I use a milligram scale, break open the capsule and reduce the beads to the weight I want the pill to be.  I'm wondering why Benzo buddies does not recommend "milligram scaling" as a means of weaning.  Are there issues with making into a powder and then weighing?  That is the method I am leaning towards and below are my questions,  One of the reasons I thought weighing might be a better option than liquid titrating is I read that one could miss part of the dosage (that it could stick to the cylinder and would not be consumed).

Planning to wait a month when finished with cymbalta and then start weaning klonopin.  Is reducing the pill by 10% of the original dose per week and then at 20% of the original dose start reducing by 5% every two weeks too fast?  This gets me finished at about 100 days as follows (and is a little slower than when I weaned off larazapam):

Week 1 0.45

Week 2 0.4

Week 3 0.35

Week 4 0.3

Week 5 0.25

Week 6 0.2

Week 7 0.15

Week 8 0.1

Week 9 0.075

Week 10 0.075

Week 11 0.05

Week 12 0.05

Week 13 0.025

Week 14 0.025 Jump after Week 14 is finished

I am very sensitive with fibromyalgia and had a hard time with withdrawel and post withdrawel issues from my 2012 incident.  Mostly painful, and severe stomach bloat.  Did not get back to work until 2015.  Right now, I just got back to work with this 2nd crisis and will be withdrawing while working.

Thank you so much for any replies, especially from the benzo buddy team on my taper plans.  I just want off so I can heal.  thanks again.  :smitten:

P.S.  if I dry taper with the scale, How would I take the powdered form.... throw it on a spoonful of applesauce?

Scale tapers are well supported on BB, and many BBs do scale tapers.

Liquid tapers are generally less labor intensive, and somewhat more accurate and precise, but a dry taper with scales can work just fine.  If you are comfortable with that procedure, no reason not to use it.

Thank you much Builder.... I believe I read a post of yours that said something to the effect of "nobody can tell you how fast to taper, but yourself and how you feel".  Would you mind looking at my time table, it's not the "recommended" tapering scale of Benzo Buddies per say (I believe the site recommendation is that unless proven otherwise, one should taper no more then 10% of the current dose you are on every seven to fourteen days, what I'm doing is 10% of the original dose every seven days and then slowing it down when I hit 20% (.10 mg of my original .5mg dose).

Does my tapering speed seem reasonable (just not unreasonable) even though a bit faster, and given that I was on ativan for seven months in 2012?.  My biggest fear is severe benzo belly pain and loss of appetite along with rebound insomnia. You know how it is, just want to be off such that my brain can start healing.  Thank for in advanced for your reply.

oh and is throwing on a spoon of applesauce good if power dry cutting?  or would there by a better way?

Based on the experience of others here on BB, that's a pretty agressive taper.  But if you successfully dropped from 1mg to .5 in a short period, that schedule might work for you.  And if it does turn out to be too agressive, you can always just slow down.

Mixing your powder with soft food is fine.  But IMO, the "better way" is liquid.  ;)
