Morning everybody! I was wondering, Im 4 weeks in ct, I was using 2mg xanax for the past 3 years which turned into substance abuse of the drug.. I've been doing alright, the first 2 weeks were hectic with physical withdraw but the mental withdraws are whats driving me insane.. into week 5 im feeling very cloudy, I zone out alot, I workout every night & still go to work and school etc.. is there any vitamins or anything I can take to assist me in this process? I take True Focus by Now (Supports Mental Clarity) 2 veg caps a day.. it promotes my positivity but as for clearing my mind im still very depressed and cloudy.. I'm getting acupuncture on Saturday, will this help ? Please get back to me!

This is completely normal! I often still have days or especially mornings where I feel lost in the head, in fact cloudy and foggy head was my first symptom even when I was on benzos. As far as supplements many people say the nervous system is too sensitive to be taking many supplements. But of course everybody is different.

As braud mentioned, supplements, especially vitamins, seem to have more of a negative than positive impact for awhile after withdrawal ends, and you are now in recovery.

The symptoms you mention are to be expected, in fact, if at four weeks from a cold turkey you are working, working out, and going to school, you're doing very well.

The cog fog will clear with time.  Good to be aware of it and double-check yourself for errors and be careful driving.

Hi Jay!  I'm so sorry that you are experiencing this disheartening symptom. At four months post CT I was feeling the exact same way.  My head felt heavy, cloudy, foggy, and dizzy. Someone would be speaking to me and I could hear words and talking but I could not focus in to make any sense out of what they were saying to me. I was in a daze all of  the time.  Of all of my symptoms, and there were many both physical and mental, the cloudiness and confusion terrified me the most. I was so afraid I would be stuck like that forever. Then the cog fog very gradually started improving. It happened so slowly that I hardly noticed it leaving. I would say the cloudy feeling was gone by about six or seven months.  I am now 13 months out and there is no cloudiness left at all. Currently the only head symptoms that I have left are some mild head pressure and some dizziness at times but it's not every day and when I do have it I can function around it.  It is still continually improving. So just hang in there and don't try to fight it because that just seems to make it worse. Just try to roll with it and accept it and before you know it your symptoms will be leaving and you will feel much better. I am sure of it!
