Klonopin Anxiety

About 2 and a half weeks ago I was prescribed both Welbutrin for my depression and Klonopin for my anxiety. I was fine the first week but I noticed that I had little to no apatite. One day I had one of the worst anxiety attacks that I ever had. I don't know if it was caused by the Welbutrin or the Klonopin. I was taking 150mg of the Welbutrin in the mornings and .25mg of the Klonopin at night. On the second week I forgot to take the Welbutrin for 2 days strait and then I became sick.

I started to pick that medication back up for the remainder of the week but I was not in the mood for solid foods. Every time that I put food in my mouth I would throw them back up. I thought that it was the Klonopin causing the upset apatite so I quit them both cold turkey. I was too sick to continue taking either medication. After quitting both the same time, I had very bad insomnia for 2 days. I was only able to get 5 hours of sleep a night. The rest of those nights were spent having panic attack after panic attack.

I did not know that I was suppose to taper both medications down before I quit all together. Last night I was finally able to get a full nights sleep. Now I feel tired, depressed, feel anxiety more frequently and I just feel horrible.

I called the doctor and they said that it was fine that I stopped taking both the medications and they did not tell me anything about any kind of taper program. They even said that my sickness issues and inability to eat anything was probably caused by something else going on and that I should contact my regular doctor. I know that these issues were caused by these very evil pills.

Welcome to the forum! We're glad  to have you as a new member.  If you were only on the medication(s) for two weeks, you should be able to do a fast taper or even a c/t.  But since you were on for such a short time and you're off now, it would be best to just endure the symptoms, which are temporary, until they dissipate which hopefully will happen soon.

You'll find lots of information and support here.  Our members have been through all aspects of withdrawal, and you're likely to find  people who understand what you're going through.

For those who are starting a new taper, we suggest reducing no faster than 5-10% every 10-14 days at first, and then adjusting the taper rate to suit your own needs.  One exception: very short-term users of a few weeks or less may be able to taper faster.  Having some withdrawal symptoms is normal, especially near the end of a taper and for a few months after discontinuing the medication.  First/only withdrawals after a slow taper tend to be easier than multiple reinstatements/withdrawals over time, which may make symptoms worse and longer lasting. The most common symptoms are anxiety and insomnia, but there are many others. These are temporary and will go away in time.

The Ashton Manual is an authoritative source on what to expect in withdrawal and recovery.  Dr. Ashton is an expert in the field. Section III explains and describes symptoms, and there is also a section with suggested taper schedules.

Again, welcome!

You are blessed that you got off so quickly. You WILL heal and probably very soon. You may want to try melatonin for sleep and theanine for anxiety.

I would see no reason why you would need to taper after such short term use. Be thankful the pills did not agree with you!
