That sounds really optimistic but not typical, at least not of anyone of this forum.

It is probably pretty true for the majority, unfortunately we are the minority and suffer more and for longer than the majority.

I tend to agree with 2trusting.  Most people get off of these drugs easier than the denizens of this forum.  We're here because we had more challenges than most people.

Hi badsocref, in your success story you say you were pretty much healed after 11 or so months but still had some tinnitus, has that resolved now or do you still have it.

Sorry for the thread hijack.

From what I have read on reddit (from people who glorify popping and abusing benzos), the people who abuse benzos and go to detox USUALLY only suffer a few weeks of hell and then start to feel better.  Sadly, it is the small percentage of us who are sensitive and took them as prescribed who suffer long term.

The tinnitus is still there.  At this point, I doubt if it has much to do with benzo use or withdrawal.  My dad had tinnitus, and I played keyboards in some bands back in college.  This is probably 'natural' for me.  It's not bad.  I'm only occasionally aware of it unless I think about it.  It doesn't keep me awake at night or anything like that.

Thanks for the answer, I am hoping for the same, not expecting a full recovery from tinnitus but be able to forget it exists.

There's this bit:

"...Symptoms of Xanax withdrawal can last anywhere from several weeks to several months. But the major withdrawal symptoms present during Xanax detox should resolve within about a month. However, people have reported cases of insomnia, heightened anxiety, and cravings long after the initial 30 days of Xanax withdrawal. And some people have said it can take up to a year before they feel a level of overall normalcy. And keep in mind that previous conditions treated by Xanax are exacerbated by detoxification. This can make withdrawal even longer, adding to your frustration..."

(and more...)

But the 290 comments are the most telling ;)
