Hi everyone..

This is a lonely road. I have been taking Clonazapam for 3 years. Disintegrating tablets now for 3 years. In Aug of this year, ran out of meds, made and went to an appt with psych np to refill. It was a new person too. She did not want to refill. Long story short, I detoxed, went to ER on Aug 17th. Did inpatjent for one week last month at a new hospital, whete I was given propranolol 20 mg day and night. Ive since learned the dangers of benzos. Ive not taken any since 2nd week of Aug. It has been hell. I lost a good job. Trying to work at a new one. They ate willing to work with me on hours, 10 a week for now. Anyways, still havkng lots of symptoms. I have 1n 8 yr old boy whom I havent seen or been with because of this ordeal. I need encouragement. The propranolol has taken edge off, but everyday a little new...does it get better?????

Hi Estrav!

Welcome to the forum.  We're glad that you found us.  Detox is a pretty intense way to come off of klonopoin - pretty similar to a cold turkey withdrawal.  It's no wonder that you've been in hell.  I'm very sorry that this cost you a job, but I'm glad that you found an employer who is trying to make it work for you with limited hours.

Yes, it does get better.  It just takes time.  I did a cold turkey withdrawal, and while it was pretty bad for a while, I fully recovered.  I'm sure that you will too.

If you haven’t already done so, please take a thorough look at the Ashton Manual.  It is an authoritative guide to benzodiazepine tapering and includes sections on what to expect during withdrawal.  The manual can be found at this link:  http://www.benzo.org.uk/manual

Here's another direct link to the Post-Withdrawal Support Group:  Post-withdrawal Recovery Support    That might be a useful place to visit.

Again, welcome!

I just wanted to say I totally understand the pain of not being able to see your children. It is beyond heartbreaking. I am in the same boat. You will heal in time. Just hold on to that promise and you will get better. You body will heal.
