Is a healthy diet a must?

Alot of you guys have switched over to a healthy diet and said that taking good care of your gut is one of the most important things in order to heal... so does that mean if I don't switch over to a healthy diet I won't heal? That the Gaba receptors in my gut will never heal unless I eat healthy?

Is there anyone out there that has not eaten a healthy diet and still healed?

A healthy diet is good for your body and promotes good health as well. In times where our bodies are very confused I have found that a healthy simple diet reduce some symptoms like anxiety and others. It won't determine if you heal or not but at some point I just had to change the way I ate bc of how sensitive I am at times. Listen to your body as best you can and find what works for you. We are all different.

No, it doesn't mean that.  Of course you'll heal.  I found withdrawal was not a good time to change my diet.  I had awful symptoms for a long time, and found that comfort foods helped me get through the day sometimes.  So, I just kept eating what I'd always eaten, and healed anyway.  Making drastic changes can actually cause a lot of stress to the mind and body, and to some of us, that just isn't worth it.

It's important to realize that we're really not in control of the rate at which we heal, and we can't control it with supplements or special diets, IMO.  If we could, someone would be making a lot of money out of this.

How unhealthy, megan918?

Apart from eliminating coffee, tea and alcohol (I only have a little in special occasions), my diet didn't change much. I eat everything, carbs, meat, dairy, sugar from time to time. However, I've always tried to have a balanced diet with lots of vegetables, fruit and whole grains. The only things I really avoid is fast food and soda, but also because I don't like them. I have homemade vegetables soup at every meal. Oh, and I try to drink lots of water (always carry a little bottle) but sometimes I forget :-[

Not terribly unhealthy, however, if I wanted a small cheeseburger and fries once a week I'd have that.  I never stopped drinking coffee and tea, which actually have a lot of health benefits, and I've never been a huge consumer of vegetables.  On the "healthy" side, I've never liked soda, so none of that, or artificial sweeteners; and other than the once a week burger very little red meat.  I'm physically very healthy, and always have been.

megan918, I apologize, my question was to snowflake1822. I'm also all for a balanced and varied diet, but with some occasional pleasures. I love smoked ham and cheese :)

This is my second rodeo, I dropped 6mg of klonopin cold turkey 4 years ago. I went to hell and back. I was taking them for 6 years. And I never did any diet and was living a normal life, until one day I decided to check my blood pressure a million times, ended up in the er, next day, back on xanax, biggest mistake ever. But diet is good but it won’t change your outcome, my opinion.

Healthy diet is not a must, but it helps.  You will still heal, all you need is time.
