When relapse turn from ok to bad really bad

Recommended Posts

I have to taper out my 12,5 mg Valium quick. I feel worse after 3 months of relapse. It was working well but now it is so hard with severe paradoxical sxs

I am cut 1,25 mg/day down to zero.

I was stable (still brain fog etc) on 12,5 and suddenly it turn out ti be a nightmare.

Any Ideas?

It's really tough for the first few weeks and then becomes liveable. Not perfect but liveable. Wish you the best.

When I relapsed last year, first few weeks were rough, I got paradoxical reactions and body didn't respond to benzo well, then it became normal. Wish you the best!

Hi,

I'm new to this forum so I always hesitate to answer posts since I'm not sure how much I can offer.  Still, I'm sure you've heard of kindling?  Maybe that has something to do with it?

I hadn't heard of it b4 coming here, but I def experienced it, &watched my brother experience what I now believe was kindling as well.  He used to drink a lot- go on benders.  Every time he stopped drinking, then started again, it took less and less time for him to be physically hooked, &w/d seemed to get worse.

I was doing well on what I now know was actually a pretty fast Ativan taper- from 2mg to 1.5, to 1.25... it was around then that my taper went sort of haywire.  I started drinking to avoid taking a pill at night, but I always needed an extra .25-.5mg in the morning after drinking due to heart palps, so it was pointless, I wasn't saving a thing.

My life became a mess, &I still haven't fully gotten my taper back on track, though I did at least stop drinking (finally, after ending up in hospital w/ HR over 180bpm just lying in bed, and shaking so bad they were iv'ing me a lot of Ativan.. which obv didn't help my taper, but I needed it at the time to keep from having seizures).

Anyways, I wish you the best... Gabapentin and Librium have really helped me, but I'm almost out of the Librium... I'm definitely a bit scared for that.  I really hope it all works out for you and you feel better.  Wish I knew a little more, so I could help.  Eating heavy foods definitely increased my anxiety when I was CT'd in January.  Non-processed and light foods were all I could handle.  Hugging my little dog helps too, because she's a really calm animal.  I know this is probably not the kind of specific advice you're looking for but I hope maybe some of it helps.  Take care!

Just read your story and hopefully you know Librium is also a benzo. Be the same as taking an Ativan.

You've been around the block long enough to know that tapering is first choice. From someone that has done it all...just finish with a taper. Trust me, it's a shock to the system jumping off too high.

Dizzy but managable
