This at 8 mos off....wondering about similar experiences
Posted
I had this a lot.  It felt like a buzzing sensation.  It's gone at 11 months.  I'll only get it if I've been on my phone too long.  Or sometimes from loud music.

Thank you for commenting HCH...I pray I get to 11 mos...this is brutal

I had this so bad at about 8 months off. It was like sleeping on top of a washing machine on spin cycle constantly. It was so intense I thought it was coming from somewhere!  It was horrendous. It went after about two months of hell. I still get some vibrating but nothing like that. Keep going. It'll get better!

Thank you bonaventure; I'm terrified I won't make it through this-8 mos and worse and worse...

sadly, 8months is still relatively early. it's about where i'm at too and i still have this. it has been unbearable recently. we will get through this!

Thank you Red Sky; I wish 8 mos wasn't early....this is so unbearably hard...thanks again for the encouragement.

Hardtocope, is that your puppy in your picture? Super adorable!

Yes; thank you...he's had a hair cut since then...hopefully will grow back-looks very strange without the hair now

Poor baby. I feel his shaved hair pain. My hair loss got so bad I shaved my head bald. It has been growing out since my jump but can still see right through to my scalp. It's very sad for me as a woman to have this going on. I hope he's fluffy again soon. And me too lol.

re: internal buzzing, vibrations, tremors....

not sure how old you all are but i've had the above since menopause :(.    Timing with onset of many hypo-estrogen symptoms.  Problem is...even HRT doesn't fix it :(.

It's been five years of this for me...drives me nuts but mostly it's become the 'new norm' - just part and parcel of my body not being able to relax (day or night) - can't sleep or nap...no matter how tired..body vibrating and won't cross into a relaxed state)

(and how i ended up on zopiclone for 4 years and recently ativan - both of which i'm just now sorta semi- re-stabilized on and plan to taper shortly-probably starting next week)

Ironically ativan does kill the vibrations at the right dose but i never took it for that and it's a dead - end ...as you all know...and only used it for limited time/reasons and now need to taper off both...

May have no relation to benzos but i wonder....

just thought I'd share :)

firefly1 :)

**and this quote:  sleeping on top of a washing machine on spin cycle constantly. - resonated completely!!! exactly what it feels like lol

I believe benzos sent me into early perimenopause. I'm 44. It started last year and I've been taking low dose birth control pills since then. I wish you the best with your taper Firefly!

I went into meno about five years earlier than average (or any women in my family)....i had five years of clonazepam use decades back so...who knows...but I really think other stressors in my life sent me into meno earlier.  will never know..just didn't know *this* kinda "hell" could exist (meno has not been kind to me...it's getting better but I don't tolerate most hormones well - side-effects..paradoxical effects.... sensitive to everything and so everything is a trade-off.)

have no idea what my sleep will be when I wean off.....and not sure how i will know when withdrawals are over and it's just meno or me left...but i'll borrow that trouble another day lol :)

Ohh..and i knew in my very early 40s i was in peri- but of course every GP laughed at me and basically kept telling me i wasn't in peri-menopause - right up until my last menstrual period!!

I wish GPs could trust a woman's knowledge of her body!! and in general trust a patients knowledge of their body too!!! (this benzo ignorance is one thing..but not listening to a patient or trusting them..even laughing at them or dismissing them....well...i rage every time i read another story on here like that....it's just WRONG! (ok..i know i'm preaching to the converted :))

Thanks firefly1 and Red Sky....I'm 44 too and probably have a connection to hormonal stuff....I know (this might be too graphic) but I had a period go for near to 14 days recently...something is definitely amiss.....Red Sky...I can relate on the hair loss too...I lose tons...I haven't cut it though but it needs it badly; looking a lot like a bag lady which may be where I'm headed

it's not too graphic :) - no worries ;)  I was lucky in that i had the opposite - my cycles lightened and shortened...kept being told THAT was NOT menopause (i know now..that's wrong...i knew then that it's wrong..but anyway...)

as for hair loss - i had that too but two different reasons

test your ferritin!!! (it's the storage form of iron)

my THICK hair thinned drastically around the peri time but the first time my ferritin was very low and to this day i'm still on iron supplements to keep my ferritin up.

also,

every time your hormones get out of whack - it's a reason for a hair shed. It's not permanent..(even a stressor can cause a shed ! ) - it's telogen effluvium

unless you get androgenic alopecia

(ya..i've been round the bend on this one too many times - i know all the names lol)

but test your iron and ferritin :) to start :)

Firefly, my docs also argued with me about peri and I had to demand tests. When she saw the results she said, "oh, woops, that's weird." Infuriating that we are dismissed like that. Between hormone and benzo and psych med doctors my rage has no limits! Since my jump off benzos I've experienced a paradoxical reaction to almost everything. It really stinks.

Hardtocope, that's not too graphic, thank you for sharing! Most women experience hormone problems during wd. It seems like everyone has severely irregular periods and cycle related waves. I have been taking the birth control pill continuously, meaning I don't take the placebo pills, in order to avoid having a period completely. I believe it's saving me from a lot of this hormone related wd stuff.

Strength and healing to you both! And may our hair return thicker than it was before!

Firefly, thanks for the tips on the iron and ferritin! I will ask about that next time I have the courage to leave the house.

RedSky  <nod>

and,

i'll get back to you on the hair! lol

(actually, it does start growing back ...but then i'll have another shed - i keep/kept tinkering with hormones...and until i'm stable...i "give up" (was seriously distraught for the first few years though...i had thick gorgeous hair and i lost a LOT near meno - from HRT shifts too...and don't think i could take another serious shed...but hopefully it's starting to stabilize..not sure yet...hence...i'll get back to you lol :))

and you probably are saving yourself a world of meno problems/symptoms with the BC...(and if it's working for you -more power to ya!! :)

I wasn't even offered them.  I sought out a hormone doc.  But for me HRT isn't easy either. (nothing is LOL) but it's better than off HRT for sure !! (for me)

modification - re: leaving the house - i swear that was a peri- symptom too!!! i went through a phase where I didn't want to leave until evening when no one was around (?) and only in my car and quick trips.  and still....again..<nod> <sigh>

I hope you get the right hormonal balance. I know how horrible it is to have that out of whack. Keep us posted on the hair situation too! I doubt I'll ever make it there but this is my new hair goal...
