Almost 1 year off and I have a few questions

Hey guys,

So I am almost 1 year off of a C/T of Ativan. I am still experiencing OCD obsessive thoughts throughout the days/night. Some days are definitely better than others, but I feel my improvement is going very slow. Has anyone experienced these for a significant amount of time? I also just stopped Lexapro a month ago because I feel like it wasn't helping anything. I have been very active these past 6 months but the obsessive thoughts are what keeps making my moods drop and makes me feel like I'm going crazy still hah. Any advice or input is greatly appreciated.

probably lexapro didnt allow you healing. So you have to WD from it also

Did you c/t the Lexapro or taper off? Cold turkeying psych meds isn't going to do you any favors.

Hey there. No I learned my lesson and tapered the Lexapro. My doctor thinks I should try another med because she's helped people through benzo withdrawal but I'm not sure at this point.

I am in a similar place as you are, 14 months off. Rampant OCD thoughts. In the last two months it has actually *settled* a great deal. Really trying to find peace of mind within myself, be content with the world around me, my past, the unknown future, etc. When the thoughts come, accepted them and move on.

If it were me, I'd be wary about adding more drugs. I'm of the belief that antidepressants and such can't touch this chemical mental stuff, anyway. Personally, I'm paranoid about all psych drugs now. I've lost too many years to this stuff. But it's definitely a personal decision.

That said, crazy mental stuff (obsessive thoughts, dp/dr, depression, anxiety, etc.) is par for the course. I'm 15 months off and I was hit with a really bad wave at month 11. I was doing pretty well until then, and after then I was experiencing worse mental stuff than acute. It's improving, though. Yours will, too. It's all a waiting game. You're quite probably closer to healed than not so you just need to survive awhile longer. It does go slow as hell, but you'll get to the other side of this. The year mark is often the turning point.
