Gabapentin and magnesium

Does anyone know how much magnesium is blocked by gabapentin?

For over a year I was taking gabapentin 1400mg and 700mg of chelated magnesium. I was doing well with that combo until I started having side effects of gabapentin (suicidal thoughts, pins and needles, chest pain, depression, blurred vision...). I started tapering my gabapentin and the side effects went away but now I'm having symptoms from the magnesium. I'm assuming I was taking 700mg of magnesium but wasn't actually getting all 700mg. And as I'm tapering the gabapentin, my body is getting more magnesium from the same amount and it's setting off my CNS.

I went down to 500mg and didn't know if it was too much or too little so went back to 700mg. I didn't sleep and was completely ramped up. Today I dropped down to 300mg but honestly have no idea how much I'm getting.

Any thoughts?

Why do you think these symptoms are due to the gabapentin/magnesium instead of being from the klonopin withdrawal?

I've been doing really well with my klonopin and can tell what those symptoms are. I've been holding pretty regularly and am tapering .002mg a day when I'm cutting.

I've had issues with stopping mag and at another time when I tried dosing 2 hours after the gabapentin I went into what was like a herx reaction/detox. As soon as I went back to dosing like I was previously, everything went away within a day! My body is crazy sensitive to mag but i have like withdrawal sxs when I stop

I hadn't heard of gabapentin reducing magnesium before (there are many things that I am unaware of).  I just tried Googling it and turned up one web page where they said that 2 people in a little over 100,000 had shown magnesium, so it must not be a common affliction.  Do you have an article that you've read that you could point me to?  I'd like to learn more.
