Feeling sad, sister moved to another state

Hello all!

My favorite sister and her husband who used to live within 7 miles from me for about 15 years had relocated to Guam for work and for retirement yesterday. I tried not to get so sad but this morning I was crying and still is while typing this post. I really feel the sadness that she is far away now and it is going to be a long time before I could see her again. I didn't sleep good last night ( still dealing with insomnia) and am praying that it will not affect my healing too much. The good part about it is, I can feel the sadness emotionally rather than the chemical emotional blunting from the drug. Is this good that I actually feel the sadness rather than no emotion at all?

 

Your thought are really appreciated.

Hi Pi, I think it's a good sign that you are able to feel sadness, that's a completely normal response under the circumstances. You may also feel emotions more intensely for a while. I rememer when I was around 3-4 months off, even little things like reading a sad story would set me off into deep sorrow for days. The emotions level off eventually, you still feel them but just not as overwhelming. I'm sorry about your sister moving so far away, it's rough when a close support person is separated from you. Hang in there.

That sounds really tough.  You and your sister must be good friends.  At least you guys can still be friends, even at a distance.

Thank you so much Greencup and Grapejuice for uplifting me on my being sad due to my sister moving so far away. She is and will be my best sister and friend forever. We talked via FaceTime yesterday and I was happy that I got to see and talked to her!
