Having trouble with medication and anxiety

Been on and off different ssri's for 5 years now.  I've been months with out antidepressants and now only talking lorazepam and was given valium.  Took lorazepam as needed but had a bad month and took. 5 mg everyday or doubled.  Had a very bad panic attack that brought me to er which I was told was nothing and given valium.  Took that a few times then decided not to be on anything again.  It's been 1 week of hell without anything.  Looking for advice. Do need to taper if it was only . 5mg everyday?  And that was only everyday for 1 month before it was as needed and maybe took a couple times a week.  Currently having anxiety, nausea, dizziness and headaches for the past 5 days.

Hi tjm1986 and welcome to BB.

Those sound like common withdrawal symptoms, especially for a cold turkey withdrawal.  At a week off benzodiazepines after only a month of continuous use, most would recommend either a rapid taper or a cold turkey rather than get on a daily dose and begin to taper.  Of course, only you know how bad it is right now, so here's a link to the withdrawal board, where you can ask what other members think:

When you have a chance, I highly recommend that you take a look at The Ashton Manual, which is an authoritative source on what to expect during withdrawal and recovery, authored by Dr. C. Heather Ashton, who is an expert in the field. It provides a great deal of information that can be very reassuring during any stage of this process, including a list of common symptoms with helpful explanations on the reasons for their existence.

Take care,
