Klonopin taper plan

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have been taking 4 drops of the liquid form Klonopin (Rivotril as it is called in Europe) for about six months.  One drop apparently equals 0.1mg, so my initial dose was 0.4 mg.

Twelve days ago I started taking 3 drops a day instead of 4. I still feel miserable.

I now know that a 25% reduction is a bit much in one go. However I do not want to go back to my initial dose. Can anyone tell me how long it might take for me to stabilise on this dose?

And after that, how should I best proceed with the taper? Liquid titration seems 'attractive' because of the baby steps and not having to switch to diazepam, which might create problems also.

Thanks in advance.

If you  have not normalized after 12 days, I think an updose is the right move.

Since you already have Rx liquid, it would be really easy to make smaller cuts (or a smaller updose) just by diluting your liquid.

For example, it you diluted 4 drops  (.4mg)with 4 ml water, then your liquid would nly be .05mg per drop.  So...

8 drops = .4mg

7drops =  .35mg

6 drops = .3mg, etc

You could dilute even further, like .1mg and 9ml water, and measure out doses in hundredths of a mg.

Thanks for your reply.

I don't like the idea of upping my dose again, would feel like the past two weeks have been for nothing.

I started feeling somewhat better last night. This morning I feel bad again.

Isn't it a good sign I had a window.

Should I not simply sit it out a little longer so my brain can stabilize on the lower dose.
