insane insomnia

GAWD! I need some help. I've been dry cutting since January and am now taking a .25 Xanax broken in half.

I don't know what I'm doing regarding this forum, it's been a while since I posted and I'm feeling lost.

When I hit the half mg mark, I started experiencing extreme insomnia.

I don't sleep at ALL- during the night.

I sometimes sleep fitfully from 9am-1:30 pm, generally 2-3 hours a day.

I have adrenal insufficiency so am taking 15mg hydrocortisone and having extremely high cortisol at night.

Since weaning Xanax, the cortisol lowering supplements aren't touching my ability to fall asleep.

Has anyone tried Liposomal Vitamin C, and does it work?

Does anyone have any answers?

I've tried meditation, super hypersensitive, meditation and sleep music makes me nuts.

Other than maddening insomnia, I can live with the other slightly uncomfortable WD.

Hi Jobyn,

I too am tapering from Xanax on a different schedule than you as is seen so often here.

We all have to find out way.  I had extreme insomnia from the start and found that the addition of a low dose of Remeron, something I heard about on this forum-  was super helpful!  I don't have insomnia any more so the healing can continue at a snails pace .  But it is better than the hell of no sleep!

Let me know

jobyn1, I too hate sleep music but nature sounds (crickets at night...) relax me a lot  ;D

Thanks for the Remeron tip, I'd hate to pack on the pounds, but I'm desperate for sleep. Have you gained and how much are you taking, if you don't mind me asking? I tried Trazadone, horrid. Gave me severe RLS, took for one night and threw the rest away.

the Remeron hasn't been that bad around appetite.  I take a very low dose...  and I try to remember that I'm not really hungry, so I distract myself if I'm craving too much sugar....I find that not sleeping makes me crave weird unhealthy food too so I keep that in mind...

I take 30 mg of mirtazapine currently and I have not put on any weight at all.  It helps with sleep and with evening appetite.  I will taper down to 15 mg as soon as I am done with my ativan taper.  And I will probably hold there for a while.

And I take about between 5- 7.5 mg.... Apparently the lower the dose the more sedating. And I'm after the sedation...
