Math Genius in the House?

I need to take a 40% solution and add water to make it 10%, for a total volume of 500 ml's Thanks! Please answer here for others, but if possible PM me too, as I can never seem to find my old posts.   TIA ♡♡♡

V1 * C1 = V2 * C2

 

You need 500 mls @ 10%.  You're starting with 40%

 

V1 * 40% = 500ml * 10%

 

V1 = 500 ml * 10%/40%

 

V1 = 500 ml * 0.25

 

V1 = 125 ml

 

So take 125 ml of the 40% solution and add enough water to make 500 mls (375 mls of water will do the trick).
