The Doctors... Episode on Aaron Carter

Did anyone see that 2 part series?  I only caught the second one.  If you don't know who he is, he rose to fame in the 90's as the kid brother of one of the backstreet boys.  This guy is looks horribly gaunt and is scared he is dying.  His sister died of prescription drug abuse (benzos/opioids) and here he is admitting to using both klonopin, Xanax and opioids.  Finally, a program where doctors are talking about the deathly side effects of benzodiazepines. 

 

Seriously, this guy is tall and weighs just 115 pounds!  Says he never enters REM sleep and always wakes with nausea and anxiety. The doctors initially suspected aids, thyroid issues, etc., and guess what?  They ran all the tests and everything in his body is NORMAL!  The only thing they could find is a weak immune system.  Same story for me.  I lost a lot of weight and all of my tests were normal too.  One test showed a weak immune system for me.

 

Here's the kicker... As the story developed and his tests showed no major health issues, the docs kept telling him that he needs to slow down and get his anxiety in check, mostly blaming his lifestyle and family issues for it.  They did tell him to lay off the benzos, but come on! They are THE problem! 

 

They are sending him to Alo house recovery center.  He's supposed to stay for 3 months and wean off the pills.  A great step, but I think this guy has a LONG road ahead of him and nobody is telling him that.
