Is there an average length for acute phase?

Just wondering if this could go on for many more months or if that is likely to happen? Does acute tend to last longer for long acting benzos? Really not doing well at all. I had a few nights with 4 hours or so of sleep and now back to none and all the other symptoms seem more severe. Why does it seem to be getting worse? I'm so confused. :(

I'm in the 3rd month and still suffering because of small doses that I took for a short period.

Don't worry. It's "normal" in benzo withdrawal to have better and worse periods. It's hard for other people to believe that such small amounts of benzo poison can do so much damage, but yes, it can. The good thing is - it will go away.

a month?  I'm just guessing based on how long it takes me to stabilize after each cut.

this is all very individual. I do see you tapered very fast. that doesn't help.

my 'I want to die phase' lasted 1 week and started on the 6th day being off. then it was bad but manageable. first last improvement came month 4.

Thank you all for the replies. I still feel just as bad if not worse than I did 3 months ago. Haven't had any times where things have been easier so far. I'm sure the rapid taper didn't help at all but I wasn't given a choice. Dr said "you may have insomnia for about a week after" HA! I wish that would have been the worst of it. Still can't sleep much sometimes not at all. Just don't know how long this is going to go on. I have heard of others who did a complete ct and were better by now. Just hard to accept it.

Have you tried some natural supplements like Melatonin or Bacopa Monnerri? They both help me sleep. Also how about some calming teas like Tension Tamer or Sleepy time teas?

Just wanted to add that acute w/d can last a while if you were on a long acting benzo. You should be getting out of it soon though. But as you know we are all different. Hang in there buddy. It will get better.

Hi Faery, when I read your post and looked at your signature I actually exclaimed "Whoa!" out loud. Why? Because you cut from the Klonopin so quickly! You are super strong that's for sure. I can tell you from my experience that my first 3.5 months off K I was suffering very badly from not being able to sleep. This is definitely what's going on with you as well. By 3.5 months my sleep had returned. I know we are all different in our healing but hopefully you will find relief soon. If it takes a little longer I think it's safe to assume it's because of the quick taper you endured and you jumped off at 0.25mg. You're a champ! Keep pushing forward, you got this :smitten:

Annie...yes I have tried melatonin and unisom and calms forte and even seroquel for sleep. None of them helped at all really. I hope you're right tho and that I will come out of this soon. Hope you're doing ok now.

Fighting the Good Fight...yeah rapid taper is definitely a horrible idea. It's kicking my butt for sure but I wasn't given a choice. I had no idea it would be this bad still! How are you doing now?
