Lack of physical strenght - is it normal?

Hello :)

I made a physical evaluation today at the gym. Everything was ok except blood pressure (very low) and strength (very bad). The later is not normal for me as I exercise regularly. But indeed I've been feeling kind of weak.

Could it be already withdrawal symptoms? I've reduced from 1mg to 3/4mg over a week.

I think it's withdrawal.  Others have complained about feeling weak at times.  My strength felt low for a few months.  It wasn't really low, but it felt low.  It seemed to take extra effort to get out of a chair, but if I really needed strength, it was still there.  In time, that feeling went away and I started feeling strong again.  That feeling of returning strength first occurred toward the end of a 20-30 mile bike ride.  It was one of my rare windows.  It felt amazing!  Only lasted about 15 minutes, but for those 15 minutes, I felt like Superman (well, compared to how I had been feeling).

Like you, I kept exercising (and I'm really glad that I did).  I never checked my bp.

I just forced myself to workout today...I was shaking and feeling reeeeally weak myself. It's been that way Everytime I try to do any thing workout related....now I feel like absolute crap. Anxiety is flaring up real bad...feel exhausted and everything is like nails on chalk board...ugh I feel like garbage. Didn't even work out for very long...just like 15 mins off and on over a period of 1 hour....taking breaks in between sets.

Thank you for your replies :) Arty5, we seem to be on similar paths - quitting Lorazepam 1mg after 10 years.

As we all seem to be trying to keep on doing our workouts, I would appreciate an opinion about the following. I've been thinking whether changing to a higher protein diet would be good, as that helps increase muscular mass. The guy at the gym yesterday told me I need to increase my muscular mass which is weird for me as I've always been OK on that. So, I imagine my lack of physical strength could be due to a drop in muscular mass caused by benzo withdrawal. Increasing protein could help regain muscle. What do you all think?

I real weak every day.

Some days it's like im drained. With no energy at all.

Some days I can do yoga for 15-20 minutes.

On a "good day" I can go for a walk, do the dishes and washing.

Tried vitamin B komplex to be more "energetic"...oh wow..the anxiety from B vitamin had me running around like a dizzy dog. Not taking that again

Just stretching and try to do a little yoga every day.

My muscles are gone...with the wind..withdrawal.

I get bouts of fatigue. I normally exercise for an hour but on these days after 7 minutes I have to stop because I'm afraid I will pass out. And then I become a couch potato. It's not fun for sure.

This might be my worst withdrawal symptom. When I was still on 15 mg of Valium I was strong as an ox in the gym and felt "fine". Since I started my taper, and I'm at 10 mg now, I'm even having a hard time walking up to the bathroom and back without needing to catch my breath. Lifting something insignificant like a pack of water is getting hard. Sure I can do it but I just feel the energy being drained out of me right away. About the gym or working out. I can just forget about that one ! If I was to do this now I would spend at least another week in bed bedridden. This is just insane. So this is what tapering 5 mg of Valium has done to me ... I'm in total denial and disbelief about this situation but it's a fact that I for the most part can only sit and lay down a bit without getting upset and out of breath or heavily fatigued. Just extreme energy loss.

I get that, totally. Sometimes the best I can do is my minimal daily routine. But gads if I feel this way on 19 mg, I'm sure scared how I will feel at that low a dose. Yikes!
