Calling all short term users!

I am really struggling today. Both my psychiatrist and psychologist seem to think my two months of up to 1.5mg of Ativan a day was minimal and tell me this withdraw should be over soon. My psychiatrist actually wants me to go on to 0.5mg of Clonazepam to stabilize and re taper. I'm so scared to touch another benzo. I jumped only four days ago. I'm experiencing massive inner restlessness akathisia that feels like panic and I feel so out of it and can't even formulate well put together sentences.

 

I wanr to know what some of the short term users have experienced as far as withdrawal after under two months use. How long has it lasted for you?

I was on Klonopin 1 mg a day then ativan 2 mgs a day for less than 6 months and tapered for 3 months and am now 6 months off and am still having slight waves and windows...Their enough to make life annoying and debilitating for the moment.

 

Everyone's different, but hopefully you will be fully recovered soon ! Im glad i got off benzos when i did, i cant imagine being on these devils for years, Like omg

I was on chlonazapam to help wean off Vicodin June 2014. Tried to wean off chlonazapam and got akathisia so have had it for 3 years now. I'm now on Lorazepam and take anywhere from 0.5 mg - 4 mg depending on the day I've had. Akathisia wreaks havoc on me. I can't even try to wean off because I have to work and sleep is too precious. Wish I could offer advice but everyone is so different. Make sure your doc recognizes your akathisia. I was sent to a nerve specialist that didn't know what it was so sent to a movement disorder dr that diagnosed me but the idiot doc says it doesn't interfere with sleep

Two months on a benzo is nothing to sneeze at. But if you can get through 4 days, I'm sure you will be fine. I would not go on clonazepam! Awful drug--a lot of doctors seem to really like it and I'm not sure why. Try to hand tight and keep us posted on how you are doing.

I agree. Though there are many times in the day I am so tempted to rescue dose. I know how much harm benzos have already done. I'm so annoyed with my docs who don't seem well versed in Benzo withdrawal or akathisia!
