So finally after a long and painful both physically and mentally taper i have reached my final date and made the jump

Been doing pretty decent in all the last few weeks on such a little dose do have a lot of anxiety and physical pain mainly headaches and head pressure which has been prominent since sep last year to be honest.

Managed to sit in a car for an hour journey to and from a golfing driving range yesterday which was massive (crazy to thing how simple it sounds) but this felt like a big thing for me.

Sleeping has generally been very good in the last few months baring a few episodes on sleep paralysis of something similar to it happening twice generally get 6-8 hours sleep a night

At the moment i have a lot of head pressure and my head can literally explode at times anyone else experience this??

I know its only the start of the withdrawal but in peoples experience which was worse the taper or after finishing the taper?

I definetly dont have as much intrusive really odd weird thoughts anymore like when i was coming off the benzos but normal anxiety may have increased a bit and physical pain is more noticeable i would say

The head pressure will come and go for sure. For me the taper was horrible and being off has been painful and then a couple of windows but most of the time suffering and depressed. Hope your experience is better, everyone is different. I wish we all didn't have to go through this madness  :'(

I found the taper mentally fucked up genuinely thought i was going insane a lot of the times i was all over the place

I feel like the withdrawal is going to be very painful

I wonder how much can we control or have we no power over it at all and time will be the healer

We will see best of luck

I had incredible chest pressure when I tried to jump

My taper was worse when it came to symptoms but I think the withdrawal has been wearing on me a bit as I have no idea when it is going to end, in my taper I could see my dose going down and calculate a jump date, now I just have to add the days into weeks, weeks into months and move forward.

We will get better though.

I will be jumping off a similiar amount in  few days. I have noticed more anxiety since I am so low. I will be jumping from 1 mg of Librium which is supposed to be equivalent to .24 Valium. Some of my anxiety I think is due to the actual jump. Worried that I won't improve etc. I also have to say that driving an hour is a HUGE deal and the fact you did it is amazing right after jumping. Maybe you have improved since tapering more than you think. My suggestion is to keep a journal so you can keep track of good days or maybe just days where you don't have some symptoms. Like with me I keep track of all the days when my internal tremors don't start until 3 pm. That to me is a good day. At the end of the month I count all the good days. It helps me see I am making progress even if it is at a snails pace. The fact you are no longer taking the drug is amazing. Congrats!! It will get better from here. Remember your brain has to heal now. One day at a time my friend.

Hi,

I jumped from Diazepam 10 days ago.  Lots of head pressure which I had 2 months ago when I was weaning down, It feels like I have a hat on, or a head band all the time and it moves around my head.  Eye pressure as well and brain fog.  I do have chest pain all days long (like a pulled a muscle) and I had this for a long time but is getting worse.  Been checking with cardio just in case, will have the results at the end of month. I also feel like my throat is closing and can't breathe all day long from mild to moderate.  This has been going on for 3 years but the last year during withdraw it got worse.  I believe Diazepam is part of the problem because I did not have this problem before diazepam and that is why I needed to get off this medication which I did 10 days ago.

Just want to add that when I stand, talk (20-40%) or do any work pulling or pushing something my throat feels like is closing much faster (60%).  No Doctor have been able to explain this besides being a heart issue which all test shows that is not. (actually is above average) Still waiting for my last test results at the end of the month.

Hey Art!

Normal, 120-125 over 77 most of the time. Pulse 60-65. I'm 56.

Btw, I served 26 years.  Thanks for your service!

My cardio sent me home 2 years ago saying I had "0" possibility of a stroke or heart attack (Chest CT/heart CT)

But I decided to check again because the pain/pressure and lack of air is way to much (all day long). And it gets worse during movement or even talking.

GI, allergist, Cardio, Pulmo, Cancer, Rheumatologist and even primary sent me home after testing saying I had no problem so basically they all think is in my head (anxiety).  Now, my psychiatrist said it s not anxiety (and I agree with him).  Having another chest CT this week. ;-)
