Are jewelry scales accurate enough to shave pills?
[1f...]

You need a sensitivity of 0.001 gram (1 milligram).  If your scale is sensitive to 1mg, you're good to go.  If not, you can get a Gemini-20 scale from Amazon that will do the job pretty well for about $20.

Yes.  Your scale will probably be more accurate than the tablet itself.

Those pills being so small I can be off as much as .02MGs a cut.

I just ordered one from amazon for $11.00 that's accurate to .001g. I have Amazon Prime so it will be here by Monday.

What a bunch of jerks! The category I picked the scale out of was 'jewelry scale .001G' They slid in a .001oz which is .01g. Now I have to order a new one.

I'll be back.

There. I just ordered a .001g for $14.99.

I'm seeing me doctor Monday and I don't know if I should bother to tell him that I feel a lot worse on the new tabs.... He says Klonopin tapering can't cause tinnitus. OK doc

Ernie-- I am using a Gemini 20 scale and I am on klonopin. I use the .5 tabs to cut and shave. Working well so far

I'm using a scale too, is the medicine evenly-distributed in the pill?

It's reasonably well distributed.

I wonder how far down in a pill you can go before you start to run into innacuracies. I see a lot of people do taper off totally dry cutting. I had kinda figured once you were about down to a third of a pill the odds increased that the distribution would be off. I probably didnt read that I probably just made it up!

According to the manufacturer, the inaccuracy for a little scale like the Gemini is around 2mg.  So for a 200mg weight, you should be within 1%.  for a 100mg weight, the error increases to +/- 2% (still pretty good).  At 20mg, the error rises to 10%, although there are ways to reduce that including obtaining a different size pill with less drug in it.
