I'm still in withdrawal, but wondered if anyone here suffered tinnitus which completely went away.  Or is this permanent damage from benzos, I wonder.  I did not  have ear or hearing issues before benzos.  In fact, my hearing was excellent.  Now I have diagnosed severe hearing loss in some aspects of hearing.  My ears plug up now and then for short periods (minutes) as well.  An ENT dr. gave me no hope that anything will get better in regards to the tinnitus and hearing loss issues.  I saw the ENT dr. back when I was in tolerance withdrawal (without any dr. telling me I was suffering such) with severe vertigo at the same time too.

Have raging T at the moment. I had the same thing as you while in tolerance, my ears would block up and then eventually in Feb 2017 my right ear blocked up permanently. Little did I know my ears were trying to warn me about the benzo.

Eventually only stopped the benzo Aug 2017. My right ear is still blocked and I have bilateral tinnitus, however the blocked ear has significantly louder high frequency T.

Still early days for me, only 3 weeks since I jumped. I want to believe it will ease up. Tired of time frames.

As the body gets pumped up and stays pumped up with all of the stress hormones during this time, the inner ear takes a beating.

So sorry to read your ear has blocked up and never unblocked.  Horrible feeling even just temporarily.

Thank you, hope you feel better soon.

Horrible feeling indeed, no peace at all!

Hyperacusis as well. Ridiculous, no one can help!

I *hear* you on the hyperacusis as well.  I can tolerate online music videos, but NOT t.v.  People on t.v. talking are just too much for me, not to mention commercials!  I'm homebound, but just stepping in to stores (going to and from medical care outings) and hearing their music playing drove me batty too.

In February I crossover-ed from Ativan to Diazepam and reduced the dossage. I had a mild tinnitus in my left ear for about 10 years and I would hardly notice it. After the change the tinnitus got worse when I would have high anxiety. It would be better when I was relaxed. I jumped off the Diazepam 10 days ago and my tinnitus has gotten much worse when I'm really anxious. It fluctuates with the level of anxiety which is a sign that it will probably subside once I'm completely detoxed off the Diazepam.

Thank you for your response, PaulMar.  Feel for you too.

I was twice screwed with benzos. My ear problems went away completely during some 3 years and I didn't even know it's from benzo.

2nd time, now, I also have problems with ears, but not constantly. It comes and goes. It is blocked probably because of eustachian tube, but it will eventually unblock.

Thank you for your reply, alokin.  Feel for you too.  Glad you at least have gotten breaks from it.

So far it's much better than the last time considering tinnitus. Some 2 weeks after I got off of the poison I started to had problems with ears, but much less... so far I mostly don't have problems with it. Right now not at all, but it can always change to worse. Back in 2010 I had constant pressure in ears and painful popping of eustachian tube... some days better, some days worse, but it was constant until it faded away with time.

Now I have more problems with terrible derealization and tension in body, especially legs and arms... after more than 2 months I still have some nights terrible night terrors. Every day it's something else.

I feel lucky not to have experienced derealization.  That derealization must be so scary.  I've had enough scary, but that too?!  Too much for anyone.
