Why do people say "holding"?

I know it means not to lower the dose, but why do they hold it?

soskiomo, as in cut and hold, after a cut to a new level, we hold for a period of time to let our bodies adjust to the new dose and (hopefully) stabilize. Once stable and adjusted, we can think about cutting some more and repeating the cycle.

 

There are all kinds of differing views as to duration of holds and how much to cut (Ashton suggests 2 weeks [i think], there are others that hold for months). What works for me is to feel my way through it, so my holds have been anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks based on how I feel.

 

There are some that micro taper which doesn't really involve holds, but a minute amount gradually each day.
