Yesterday I forgot to take my usual Claritin for sinuses, so at my parents house I took a Zyrtec instead. Well we are on the way to the lake and my heart starts racing, and I just start feeling all around uncomfortable. Dizzy, fast heart rate, anxiety, nauseous, and my eyes were worse. That is when I realized it had to be this darn Zyrtec! I literally did the exact same thing the day before, forgetting my Claritin and taking a Zyrtec and I felt crappy also! Just didn't think it was the Zyrtec. But now after 2 days of taking the Zyrtec, I felt miserable all day, and all night. Even sleeping last night my heart was racing all night and I had noticed skipped heartbeats. Well it's morning now and I have real bad tinnitus also. In other words I got thrown into a wave from Zyrtec.

Anybody else get this with Zyrtec?

Not the same problem but related.....I started taking Claritin almost two weeks ago......no sx at all....I stopped this past Sunday and nervousness and anxiety kicked in.  Yesterday it was worse....am wondering if some of us get withdrawal from stopping an antihistamine?  I did read comments on the web and yes it is possible in a very small fraction of women......just wondering if anyone here has had the same result...thanks Hoping

I usually take Claritin, but tried switching to Zyrtec thinking a newer antihistamine might be more effective.  I took it for about 5 days before realizing it was causing heart palpitations and anxiety.  I also had one of my worst migraine headaches during that time, something that I had not had in a long time.  This was before benzo withdrawal so I can only imagine what it might do if in withdrawal.  So, yes, I think it entirely possible that Zyrtec is causing your symptoms.  Also it is possible, in my experience, to have symptoms when stopping an antihistamine too.  That happened to me when I tried to stop Claritin.

Yeah I'm not real sure if it was either or for me... but whichever antihistamine it was, whether Claritin withdrawal, or Zyrtecs side effects, it sucks real bad. I literally just got done having a reall high heart rate, with sweating, anxiety and dizziness that hit me all of a sudden for about 20 mins and just calmed back down thank God. But it has GOT to be from one of these antihistamines. Which truly sucks because I have HORRIBLE allergies, so I need something. I hope there is a type of food that can help instead with allergies lol
