Creating a Benzobuddies Glossary - Want Input

I'd like to create a glossary of terms as I think it would be useful.  We throw out all sorts of jargon (kindling, waves, benzo belly, acute, micro-tapering, etcetera).  Some are described in the Ashton Manual; some are kind of unique to the forum.  I'd like to see them all get put into one nice neat place.  This thread will probably not be that place, but maybe we can get a good discussion going on terms that should be in the list, and reach some sort of consensus on defining and organizing them.  Some might even link to active groups (e.g. palps).  The descriptions would be dictionary-like with no judgement added.  These would not be med-school definitions, but would be working definitions for use in the forum.

If the discussion takes off, I will probably begin to assemble an alphabetized list in another viewable location.

A good place to start (IMHO) is to start listing terms/acronyms that you feel need inclusion in this list.  Please add terms that you feel should be defined.  We can start adding/refining descriptions later (but you are obviously free to provide a brief description if you choose).

------------------

Acute

Benzo-Belly

Chronic

Distraction

Hold

Kindle

Mindfulness

Micro-Taper

Palps

Panic Attack

Reinstate

Supplements

Sweats

Tare

Up-dose

I've left this deliberately short/incomplete.  Please add more.

what a great idea, Bads, and a huge undertaking.  I would add dp/dr as this is common and also hard to define.

PRN  = take as needed

That's a common one for signatures.

I put a copy of the work in progress here:  http://enchantedskies.net/BBGlossary.html

I'm still adding terms.  I've started to try to find some words to briefly define them.  Also started adding a few links to active BB topics.  Input is again very welcome.  I don't even know what some of those acronyms mean.  Nor am I familiar with every thread (to link to).

Good stuff, Bads!

Well, for one... I don't feel, er, um, 'qualified' to describe meni-symptoms.  ???

And ROLF.  That's not an acronym that I've used.

Yes, it's quite a task you've undertaken.  Hopefully, there'll be some good discussion to help refine the list and make your life easier.

Thanks again for all you do, Bads!

I'm more than qualified to help with this one:  :-\

Head Pressure

  • Head in a Vise or Tight Head Band (Muscular - tension/squeezing/pulling)
  • Pressurized Soda Can (internal sensations).  Well, I invented the Soda Can analogy. ;)

  VG AKA "Vibrating Genitals" but I say we call it BB or "Benzo-Balls" for men. I saw this recently on this forum and just had to throw it in here.

It's not even a joke. Some people have recently been describing this symptom.    :-[

You can look it up ! I believe it's added to the common symptoms list.

Probably won't add typical communication acronyms like ROLF.  This list is getting long enough without that.

How about HRT?  What's that mean?

Thanks for that (HRT), begood!  I'll need some guidance here as to how this relates to benzo withdrawal.

Looks like this will eventually become a sticky post.  Thanks for so much your input.  Keep it coming!  I'm still way behind on what you've all sent, but I just uploaded an updated list with more terms and definitions.  Please look it over - especially the growing list of definitions.  If something more (or less or different) should be said, please let me know.  Same for the links.
