Anybody rapid taper after trying slow taper for long time and struggling?

Been tapering for a year and a half and really just over it. Was wondering if anyone else decided to either c/t or rapid taper at a certain point to just get it over with and their experience?

I did.  I tapered over nine months from 2mg of Xanax to .25mg and jumped (pre BB) on advice from someone who was supposed to be an expert in drug withdrawal.

 

Suffice it to say, it was intolerable and I reinstated three days later and finished tapering. 

 

If it were me, I'd bump up the cuts to every two weeks instead of holding a month between cuts and see how that went.  I think 7mg is likely to be much too high to jump from.  The end of a taper is notorious for being more symptomatic.

 

But I hear ya.  It's a long and frustrating road.

I'm getting ready to do a phenobarbital fast taper on an outpatient basis with my psych. I'm at 3.75mg/day of Klonopin right now (down from 8mg/day! in June) and I think we're going to aim for somewhere around 1mg/day. I'm going to try to post updates about how it goes. Like you, the slow taper is impossible if I want to work (I'm a teacher and I can't teach on 3.75mg of Klonopin), so I'm trying this route with a slow taper to follow to get off the last bits.
