I'm over 10 months off klonopin but last week I took a 10mg dose of Valium so I could function during the birth of my daughter. Is there a chance I could have a seizure now??

I also fear this was a major setback :-(

You gave birth during benzo wd? Hats off to you and congratulations on having a baby! You will be fine. I did a 2mg ativan rescue dose at 7 months off Kpin and i was devastated. Yet the only thing it appeared to do was ramp up my wd symptoms for a few days and didnt set me back. Ur good to go but i recommend no more rescue doses.

Seizures typically only ever happen during benzo withdrawal if:

1. You have a TBI

2. You have a seizure disorder or a history of seizures

or

3. You were on a VERY high dose for a long time and cold turkey.

My experience is that a rescue dose can be a good thing and in my case it saved my life.  I had been given 2 mg of clonazepam starting in about 2007 by a supposedly great psychiatrist that I now see was sort of trying to kill me.

Fast forward to May of 2016 when I decided to taper off the clonazepam with the help of a different doctor.  I tapered until late August of 2016 although horrible vertigo started in July of 2016. Some things got better over time with exercise and diet but the vertigo never would stop at all and was killing me.

I saw physical therapist, neurologist, had an MRI, saw various doctors here and there who told me it was not possible to have vertigo this long.

In March of 2017 I was in the hospital for something else---the doctors didn't know about the vertigo at all---I was given ativan and librium over a 32 hour period.

And then nothing more.  It saved my life.  I would be dead now otherwise.  The vertigo totally stopped, gone, nothing.  I feel wonderful.

I was in the hospital in June for something different and had a few doses of valium.  It did not hurt me and only helped me.  I am feeling great and things are good.

A real doctor, Heather Ashton, who is the expert in benzo withdrawal has written than a rescue dose or a dose for surgery or something like that does not harm a person.

I am living proof.  I know all of the medical experts here who have no medical training and only their own research will scare you to death about a rescue dose.

So believe them if you would like.

I am alive and not dead because of a couple of doses of a benzo---NOT clonazepam---but letting doctors who have been to medical school and didn't just get their info on the internet saved my life.

I would not worry about what you have experienced but all of the experts here will probably make you worry.

I hope you are better soon.
